Guild Description: Asylum is an innovative guild that has been designed to encourage in-character political power struggles within the guild while maintaining a unity of its members under the concept of their love of power and perhaps loyalty to the town of Buccaneer's Den. By example, let's say there is a pirate faction and a cult of Nox faction within the guild whom despise each other and both try to in-character undermine the other within the guild. Then say, an outside source is planning to annihilate the pirates having been pissed off by the disruptions of their cargo shipments. The pirates bring the matter to the council and even the cultists would be inclined to lend aide in the matter because if the pirates are wiped out then the naval protection of the island is compromised. If the island then falls to an outside force, the cultists would lose all power and political sway. It would be in the cult's best interest to lend aide because it serves them ultimately and not because they have any love for the pirates themselves. That is the atmosphere we would like to see created within the guild.
Asylum will start as a refuge for all outcasts and the unwanted. Eventually, with growth we plan on initiating a parliamentary system where those factions and groups that meet guidelines and hold a certain amount of members will be able to hold a council seat and have a say in both the IC and OOC actions of the guild. Ariana's position will be similar to a Prime Minister and Head of the Council. Instead of a guild where segregation is based on type of character such as military or crafter, our groups will be primarily formed based on ideologies rather than skills. We will be encouraging IC politics within the guild as each faction struggles to keep their own power on the council as well as undermining other factions for their own gain.
It is hoped that this system will allow and encourage rp inside the guild as each group attempts to politically outmaneuver other groups as well as retain their own power within the guild. Each faction will be in charge of their members as far as delegating ranks, titles, positions and enforcing whatever rp rules they hold their faction to. It is also hoped that based on this system it will encourage each faction to aide in the recruitment process ic based on their own interests ic. All groups are required to join the guild itself as opposed to using the alliance system or allowing outside guilds to have representation. The hope is that the guild will function as a single powerhouse with the council making decisions for the whole and each faction lending their support as requested to whatever current campaign is on the table. Those factions who repeatedly don't lend their aide or make themselves useful to the rest of the Council, may find themselves lacking when they request aide or at worst having a vote called for the removal of their seat for either a duration of time or permanently.
The supreme goal of Asylum is to unite smaller groups as a collective world power as well as giving those individuals a home who do not fit into an existing group. It is also our goal to encourage the development of rp that not only supports 'evil', but embraces it. You throw a group of murderers, bastards, predators and religious zealots together, they shouldn't all embrace in a hug fest. Evil as a rule is often times selfish, power hungry, manipulative and doesn't always play with others because of this. It is our hope that this system will encourage those evil tendencies, but also temper them in a way that even opposed groups have a rp reason to work together for the greater purpose. |
