With a start, the girl woke up and sat bolt upright. Disoriented, she looked around the place. Slowly, it came to her.

The mages. A valley. Near the Painted Caves. Okay. Got it.

Her mind flooded with memories of how she came to be in this quiet valley.

She flopped onto her back and tried unsuccessfully to go to sleep.
