The left hand of a child held up a lantern, illuminating the dark cavern walls of the deepest tunnels in the Minoc mines, while the right hand of the same lad pointed onward. "This way sir." he muttered, as Balbanes trailed behind him, his arms swinging arrogantly at his sides, and his shoulder mounted cloak waving as if it almost had a pompous manner of its own. The closer they got, the brighter it became, until they came to a huge opening in the cave, which looked as though it had been recently dug.
Thousands of burning torches were shoved into openings carved into the walls of the cave, and several hundred miners were slaving away, some as high as fifty feet from the cave floor, some in rigid alcoves, some on thin struts of rock, all slamming away at the stone covering a parcially revealed, underground, stone castle, which was built right into the cave wall. Standing far from the falling rocks and clanking pickaxes was Duke Bailos, his arms folded, watching the progress. "Ahh sir, I see you've c-" he was cut off abruptly as Balbanes entwined his long fingers around his throat. "What do you think your doing, Myrdra..." the Lord uttered. "T...trying to p..please you, Lord Beoulve!" he said, gasping for air. Balbanes let him go, and he took to one knee, gasping lightly for breath.
"I like what I see...but you never spoke one word of it to me." Balbanes said. "I wished to suprise you my Lord." Bailos muttered, getting to his feet and meeting Balbanes eye to eye, something only he was capable of doing...staring into those silver pools spawned straight from hell. "You wished to suprise me...Just like you wished to suprise me when you had those plans drawn up that fell into the Legion of Justice's hands?" berated Balbanes, with a tone of both chastisement and anger.
Bailos lowered his head momentarily, remembering the day the plans so carelessly dropped from his satchel in Sanctus, only to be found by Vaen Swiftar. "By the way sir...we recovered half of those plans. I have them with me." Balbanes' eyes widened. "Your carrying them around! You are *asking* to lose them again!" The Lord shouted. "Get them to the Keep. Lock them up in...the alcove." Bailos nodded. "Very well M'lord. What of this operation. Do you like it?"
Balbanes scratched his chin, taking a good look at the prodigal surroundings, almost about to say yes, when he realized the possibility of a horrible event in the future. "I want it stopped...for now." Bailos was awestruck. "But my Lord! Why! With these resources my plan could be in full swing in tw-" he was cut off...again. "Silence!!!" I will not tolerate your insolence!"
Balbanes voice wracked... "Do you have ANY idea what would happen if the Legion of Justice got ahold of these? *They* would be the invincible ones, not us as Swiftar once suggested. I want them out of Minoc forever. Until then...take what resources you've already mined, and send sample models of your plans to Beoulvendine Keep. The Council will look at your plans in the morrow." With this, the Lord of Azeroth turned and began to go. "Yes, Lord Beoulve." Bailos said, as he sighed. "Alright! Switch all your efforts to carting the current harvests out of here! We've got a lot of work to do!" shouted the Duke, who then accompanied his Lord out of the cavern.
As the one two of Azeroth waltzed out together, they spoke under their breath, so quiet that even their respective pages could not hear...the demented wheels inside their heads were turning, plotting what to next.
