Kelly walked through Minoc to check on the citizens. Spending several hours among the townsfolk to boost confidence. She even went out and brought several bear and deer carcases in to give to the less fortunate street urchins. She watched as the people moved about in their daily tasks lending a hand here and there.
Such a simple life. She thought as she looked down to the longsword sheathed at her side. A life I might have once grown up to as a child. She lifted a heavy satchel for a shopkeeper. A life I could never know now. She smiled to the shopkeeper as he gave thanks for the help. She eyed his exposed neck a fleeting moment. How easy it would be to kill them. But why would I kill our food source? She felt the aggression rise that often went with her hunger for blood.
She passed by one of the buildings and saw the wanted poster for the Kitsune. She chuckled and took it down. Glad to see my handiwork has gone unnoticed. She tossed the poster in a trash pile and looked around.
Seeing no one was paying attention to her, she wandered south along the road. At least they have good taste. She smiled and licked her lips. a part of her wondered if it was the Kitsune.
She heard the musings of a gypsy camp just off the road. "Well now...What have we here? Welcome to Minoc." She stepped out of the shadows and after a short while, the sounds of the gypsies silenced...one by one. Kelly put the lifeless bodies onto the wagon carefully, covered them up and wrapping their necks in their festive garb to conceal the bite marks, then drove the wagon to the edge of Britain's northeast side. She looked around as the hour was late in the evening before hopping down and slapping the horses to get them moving in a random course along the Britain road. She watched the wagon go down the road before vanishing to peruse the vendors. She rode along for some time and decided to go pay a visit to her drow comrads in the Drow Quarter outside Umbra before the sun began to rise. |

|
Kelly found her way through Umbra eventless and approached the Drow Quarter. She circled the Temple of Lloth before walking up to the top. She couldn't help but gaze upon the place with contempt and hatred. Her past dealings with drow having left a bitterness for the Spider Queen. She never trusted drow mages or priestesses from then on. But then she was a fledgling vampire still discovering her powers when she was enslaved. No others have attempted to gain control over her since and it had been many centuries ago now. It still did nothing to diminish the hatred for century of service she had been forced to endure under an ebon skinned devil. The devil had learn a few spells of power from a human mage. In time, he made a mistake.
A critical mistake in which Kelly had regained her control. She grinned as her gaze passed over the dread spider idols. Lloth knew the little drow house had grown too power hungry. It fell from her grace that night. That night the Qu'ellar d' Errdegahr Cress fell silent. Not a soul was left alive. No man, woman, or child. Kelly remembered well the years of pain. The years of built up rage. How good it felt to go on that killing spree. She left the Underdark in chaos as the drow so enjoyed it.
She would never trust a mage, priest, priestess, cleric, or paladin again....Regardless of faith or race.
She shrugged and moved from the Temple toward the Tangled Web Tavern. She felt eyes upon her and hesitated at the door to the tavern.
A male drow revealed himself to her. Kelly went with him to another building after a brief greeting. The building was one she had been past several times but never paid much attention to it. The Spider's Kiss Trading Company. Kelly and the drow male who affectionately dubbed himself as "the Boss" in the few messages she had recently received, held a most informative meeting of the recent events pertaining to the Blue Lotus and Moonglow activity. Some of which Kelly had discovered by a casual chat with one of the Lotus at the Moonglow tavern weeks ago. The pieces had been put together and now it all made sense. She and the "Boss" said their farewells and Kelly made her way home.
My how things just keep getting interesting. Perhaps it is a good thing the Matron left our alliance. Afterall, the little matron had a little drow child to raise. Might as well keep the bugger safe. Kelly chuckled as she stepped over to her coffin.
I suppose I should rest while I can. She crossed her arms over her chest, concealing well the blessed ankh that she rested nightly over her heart before closing her eyes. She whispered softly in an ancient tongue to the statues in her crypt..."Watch over me." She felt the warmth of the protection magics and fell into her sleep. |

Kelly woke early this night. In fact, it was late afternoon when she looked out from her crypt. Something was going on somewhere in the land. What it was, could be anything. One thing was certain, her curiosity and senses were alert. She stretched and went up to her lab. She walked to the cage in the corner and studied the remnants of her last victims. They were long dead. I need a new subject. Kelly reached into a pack and pulled her shroud of shadows out and on before leaving the home. She decided to walk to the road. A good walk and the sun would be setting by the time she got there.
She walked off the roadside out of eyesight of any travelers. She traveled to the Minoc moongate and spoke the word Britain. She walked quietly to the great city's west side. Most of the folk were doing their own thing from selling wares to late-comers to closing up the stores for the night. Taverns of course were always busy. Kelly walked past the Cats Eye and was caught by a young man who, for some unknown reason made smalltalk with her a moment. Pleasant as it was, she was distracted by his choice of colors....they were unnaturally close to that of Sanctus.
Kelly and the young man parted ways and she walked through Britain. She passed over the bridge and rounded the corner to the sign that read 'Chamber of Virtue'. She went into the Chamber where a bunch of monls were discussing the virtues in a corner. One of them came over to her. "Come to learn of the Virtues?"
She smiled under the shroud and spoke softly to him. "Oh I would like to discuss these virtues with you. Care to come with me to my home?" She held out her right hand as if offering to shake on a deal.
"Oh most certainly Miss..umm...I don't believe we introduced ourselves. Forgive me. I am Forbes." He took her hand.
Kelly grinned as her fingers entwined with Forbes' "I am Kelly. A pleasure to meet you. I have so much to show you and discuss with you." She lead Forbes out and north out of Britain.
As they walked, She and Forbes discussed the virtues. Hours passed into the night as they argued and debated. Finally they stood at Kelly's front steps. Forbes was tired, but curiosity kept him going.
Kelly lead him upstairs. "Sorry about the noise. Statues." She reassured him as he heard all manner of beasts. Kelly then pulled him to the teleporter in the corner, standing so his view would be blocked by her at first sight.
"Before you make any harsh judgements on what you are about to see, consider our long walk here." With that said she stepped aside to let the man take in the grim sight of her lab floor. He gasped in horror and fell back against the wall.
"W-w-what....manner of...monster...are...you?" His voice little more than a whisper, eyes soaking in every grisly detail.
Kelly leaned against the wall next to him and pulled back her shroud for him to look at her. "Am I a monster?"
He turned and his jaw dropped at her beauty. "What are...you? A...A...Succubus?"
She laughed softly. "I am hardly a demon. Tell me....Forbes. What do you know of vampires? Surely a monk of your wisdom has some knowledge." She watched him as she felt his willpower weaken more with exhaustion. He was tough but no match in the end. He would be a good subject.
"Vampires? They are cursed to walk the lands to live off the blood of the living. A mockery of beauty and life to some. But mostly they are stories to tell children at night to keep them in line." He yawned "I am afraid we should continue this tomorrow Miss Kelly."
Kelly nodded and grinned. She escorted him over to the cage and placed down a bedroll and some food. "Fear not for this will keep you safe. Besides, if I was going to harm you...Don't you think I'd have done it already?" She winked and left him alone to his thoughts. Going to her crypt to consider all they discussed. It wouldn't be long before his monk friends began to wonder if he would return....she grinned. Of course he wouldn't...Not yet.

Kelly woke early the next afternoon to the sounds of the monk. She went up to her lab and found he was looking over the many things she had on her tables. She watched him quietly as he would gently pick up one bottle, look at its contents then replace it just as gentle one after the other.
"Did you rest well Forbes?" She asked as she stepped over toward him.
Forbes jumped at her words. He had not heard her enter. He turned to her and cleared his throat before replying. "As well as could be in a...strange place. Miss Kelly."
She smiled. "Come with me. I want to show you something much less frightening. A more...relaxing place." She held out her hand.
Forbes nodded and took her hand. "You have quite the laboratory. Larger than ones I have worked in. Are you a...collector?"
Kelly smiled as they hit the teleporter and arrived on the rooftop of her home. "I am. This is much better than the Lab is it not?"
Forbes gasped at the garden. It was beautiful! Such a drastic change from the horrid lab. Hedges lined the edge to give total privacy, and as he stepped out onto the well manicured grass, he saw fish swimming in the pond. Atop the hedges sat many statues of beasts. A dragon roared as he walked past it. He patted its stone snout and moved over to the table and bench by the pond. He looked over at Kelly in amazement. "This is beautiful. Truly a place of peace."
Kelly nodded and moved over to stand across the table from him. A lone tall candle sat on the table. She sat on the stone floor. "Yes. This is where I come often to think. Tell me Forbes. What do think of vampires? I want your honesty."
Forbes shifted nervously at the question. He felt a strength from this woman with vibrant emerald eyes. He crimson hair brought them out. Truly a beautiful sight. "I have never met a vampire. "
Kelly smiled at his honesty. "So all you know is only what you have learned of others or books?"
Forbes nodded. "To take the hand of a vampire is to take the hand of your own death. To invite a vampire into your home is to invite death. Tis said that once you have invited one in, that vampire could enter your home whenever they wanted."
"Well that is true. " She watched him. "What if I told you I was a vampire?" She smiled still hiding her fangs.
Forbes blinked. "I'd say you are truly beautiful but i hardly would believe you a vampire."
"Why is that Forbes?" She queried.
He sat straight and looked her over, then to the garden, then back to her. "You aren't a..." He lost his voice when he saw them. The color drained from his face as he stared at the ivory fangs Kelly now showed to him. He looked at his hand. His heart pounded in his chest. "No...you...cannot be."
Kelly exposed her fangs to him. "Yes, Forbes. I am. Yes. You took my hand. I could kill you. But I won't. " She stood and with lightning speed, had him pinned against her, her fangs grazing the flesh of his neck. "You will remember nothing more than a dream of a woman in a shroud coming to speak of virtues." Kelly sank her fangs deep and fed.
Forbes wanted to cry out as he felt the fiend bite him. He felt his life's blood drain with each swallow she took...Soon...darkness overtook him. When he woke, he was back at the Chamber of Virtue. He sat up and saw the other monks resting. He ran over to them and shook them. They didn't stir. He rolled one to his back. Forbes saw his hands were dark and grabbed a torch...It was then he saw the scene. The monks had been slaughtered. Throats slit...all but his. Forbes ran off to tell someone...anyone of this horrible news. |

Orelen came upon the scene fairly early in the evening. A feeling of anger began to seethe immediately, deep within his heart.
He searched his surroundings quickly, before noticing the one remaining monk, quivering in the corner, fear deeply implanted into his eyes, griping his heart. Approaching the man, he attempted to make sense of his mutterings, evaluating his physical state while trying to sort his mental cocophony.
The man appeared healthy, in almost every way, but there was a sublte break to the flesh near the neck, as though he had been bitten and he looked pale in the face and hands from apparent blood loss.
"My dear sir, we will get you to the healer where you can be helped properly." Orelen addressed the man softly to attempt to quell his delirium and fear, though there was little reasoning with the man. He would be useless to question, short of his mutterings, though his body held enough clues to cue Orelen into a type of culprit. That was more than enough in this situation, he needed not a definite suspect.
----
The guards arrived on scene soon, aiding the man to the healer, as Orelen finished his investigation of the area.
Otik approached him, also abandoning his investigations, both men with certainty tied to thier expressions.
"General, it seems that Britain did not remain under the Vampire's disregard for long."
"No, Sheriff, it did not. Even if the Capaddocians are not the perpetrators, we must make an example of this type of savagery. Secure the city, I will handle this situation immediately, and without mercy."
With a nod the new sheriff, Otik, was off gathering the guard forces, doubling patrols, making certain the city was entirely secure from any further invasion and desication.
Orelen's thoughts raced over the event and he nodded watching the Sheriff in action. The world will be forced to be civilized, if they cannot conduct themselves as such, under their own accord. With a slow shake of the head, he walked off as the last of the bodies were being taken from the Hall of Virtue. It seems his night was destined for his office, away from home, away from the mirror imprisoning his beloved, away from where his heart wished him be. His anger grew livid as his thoughts raced. |
