|
The basic goal of this plot is to give everyone in the community who wishes to participate something fun and interactive to roleplay. There are two different elements people can roleplay with the plot: something mysterious is causing people to act differently, causing people to want to find out what. A lightbringer might want to cure it, while a darker character might want to take control over it for themself. People can roleplay both parts, someone who is acting differently might want to figure out what is going on. I plan on playing as a dungeonmaster to make the process of looking for clues interactive.
Anyone who wants to participate in the temporary behavior changing part can have their characters take on any number of the following behaviors (If you are particularly sadistic, you could choose all of them!). I try to give a lot of examples of what could happen, ultimately it is up to the player to decide how their character reacts. As well, different races would be unaffected or affected differently. Animals are defined as humans, humanoids like orcs or meer, normal animals, and half-human races such as half-elves. Fae include elves, pixies, and other similar creatures. Vampires are pretty straight forward, and are the only undead who would be affected. If you want the races affected to change, do say so. I could remove it if people want. These are outlines, it is a character's personality that causes something to actually take shape:
Quote: |
Gluttony: Gives the person a very strong enjoyment of food, drink, or anything that tastes good. The character will never gain any weight, either, possibly compelling them to continue eating. It may take longer to feel full. An odd side effect might be your character eating/licking/chewing on non-conventional food items, simply because it seems to taste good. For example, the flavour of iron might remind your character of meat, and cause them to chew or lick their sword.
Obtainable by animals and fae.
Vampires would not react well with it. They might feel a strong desire to feed, but feeding would cause severe cramps and blood spraying from their butt until their meal has left them. After that, they would feel normal.
Valor-prone, impulsiveness: The individual feels a new bursting sense of self-confidence. On a shy character, this could push them to discover their inner voice. It could also push a confident character to become overbearingly proud. It would drive a person to act out of desire more frequently. This could be as simple as getting off the chair and getting yourself that second ale you want, or as inspired as your character seeing wrong in the world and wanting to right it.
Obtainable by animals, fae, and vampires.
Charity: The individual will feel a renewed sense of compassion and will want to act upon it. They may feel driven to becoming a healer, seek out those in need and helping them, planting a garden, giving food to the poor, or anything that they would feel is helping the world. This could also manifest as a desire to nurture something, a sense of being motherly. This is not limited to just female characters. The thing being nurtured could be anything the person has an attachment to somehow, not necessarily a child. It could be a friend, a cherished item, a plant, anything that is significant somehow to them.
Obtainable by animals and vampires.
Imagination: Your character's imagination has become overactive, and they may see the world with the curiosity and enjoyment of a child. "What is it that causes the plants to grow? Isn't it fascinating how their seeds go all over and grow too? I mean, they can't walk! But animals pick up their fruit or seeds and take them all over. Can you imagine what it would be like to be a seed and get to travel everywhere??", your character might say during a walk through the woods. Your character would be compelled to share everything that pops into their mind, feeling it is a profound discovery. Your character will also have vivid dreams, like they popped some shrooms before bed and trip out as they sleep.
Obtainable by animals and fae.
Hedonism: Your character's life focus turns to finding enjoyment. Partying, drinking, lying on a hill and staring up at the stars, whatever feels good in the world is what your character wants to do. This would take priority over responsibility, your character would feel everything else is a chore and not really worth their time. Unless, of course, the character takes enjoyment out of a chore such as patrol duty. In which case the character would devote much more time to doing it, even when off shift. This could manifest as an obsession over hobbies as well.
This is obtainable by animals, fae, and vampires.
Self-expression: Your character suddenly feels much more creative and has a strong need to express it somehow. Your character could be terrible at singing, acting, drawing, painting and so forth, but that wold not stop them from doing it. Your character might be driven to deface or graffiti public places as well, if inspiration strikes as they wander about. Or burst into song or dance.
Obtainable by animals and vampires.
Caution: Your character develops a stronger aversion to being harmed physically, mentally, or otherwise. They might become paranoid and fear others wanting to harm them, or create situations in their mind where going out and doing something could result in harm (going out for a boat ride could lead to falling out of the boat and drowning! In fact, your character could get so wrapped up in the scenario they are imagining, they might become certain it will happen), or become afraid that they are always developing symptoms to some disease or disorder. It could also result in new phobias.
Obtainable by animals and fae
Renewed Spirituality: Your character feels they have become in touch with something spiritual. This also may manifest as hallucinations, or experiencing things that are not there. Perhaps being outside or in a forest has made them feel a deeper sense of being one with nature, or looking up at the stars gives a sense of celestial divinity. Or even something more off-beat, such as wandering through a city and feeling that humanity/society is one functioning body. Whatever it is they feel in touch with, it moves them to try and seek deeper meaning in life and see correlations between things. Your character may figure out "the truth" and develop a personal religion, and might want to try and share their truth with others. Separate from the spirituality aspect, the hallucinations could make your character appear as a babbling loonie. I know some people get a kick out of playing that their character is crazy and I'd like the option to be available.
Obtainable by animals, fae, and vampires.

There are two stages to each of the behaviors, the second stages would appear after a few weeks. I don't want to give out a terrible amount of details on what will happen because I want it to play out like a mystery. People could realize something's up, and get together to try and find out what's going on. I will play a dungeon master and come along with groups and play the role of NPCs and the environment, allowing players to speak to towns people and scout out the environment for clues. There doesn't need to be just one group that goes out at a specific time, people can get together and send me a PM or ICQ saying that they want to do something. If a single detective wants to head out, I have no objections as long as not everyone wants to do it alone. I might need a few hours in advance, considering things like guild meetings and tavern night which I'd still like to participate in.
If you're interested, please post and let me know! I'd like to be able to use a city as a starting point, but I'm not going to godmod and just do it if nobody in the town wants to take part. As well if you have ideas or suggestions, feel free to post them too. The whole goal is for this to result in roleplay that is fun for everyone. |

Wicked obsessive paranoia sounds fun, and more community-wide stuff is always awesome. I'd love to see this happen. |

Whatever you do, NEVER accept a drink from this woman.
Ever. Or probably food for that matter either. _________________ An artist is a creature driven by demons ~Faulkner

There's enough obsessive paranoia for everyone! Share it with your friends! Like I said, people can get any number of these behaviors as they want :) |

All food and water is poison. The only thing safe to eat is fingernail clippings. They regenerate, and you can always see where they are. |

So in theory, I could get a sense of wonder and heightened spirituality about things around me...
...and then eat them.
And not gain weight.
...a w e s o m e.
(edit)
There's a quandry...can vegetarians eat fingernail clippings?
I'm somehow thinking not..... |

Kick it up a notch and cut off your own fingers to prevent you from accidentally poking out an eye. |

I didn't eat nail clippings!
But Taco Bell does sound good...You know, they'll make vegetarian versions of anything they serve. They're one of the most vegetarian friendly fast food places out there

So what will cure it? Shall we open the idea of the Virtues being a cure? That could draw in the Oracles and Sages to help but not be effected because of their true beliefs? _________________ Grand Duchess Molly Kaldhel
