The day of the trade between Yew and Zento had arrived. Itannar and his aide stood watch over the crates of lumber, wool, and wine just west of the Abbey awaiting the ship from Zento. The grapes on the vines nearby were large and the bunches hefty. Itannar knew that the harvest this year would be a good one.

The ship arrived on schedule and the formidable Samurai of her Imperial Highness Miko unloaded their own supplies.

Greetings were exchanged and both sets of goods were examined to the satisfaction of both parties. The gifts from the Tokunans were lavish; the crates were full to bursting with rich green tea, silks, and delicacies native to their country. The modest gifts from Yew were accepted and taken aboard the ship for the return home.

After the shipments were taken and distributed, Itannar returned home only to find himself ambushed by brigands who had evidently got word of the transaction. Though they were determined and fought hard, all of them fell to his slashing blade.

Itannar was pleased with this first trade transaction between the two cities and made a detailed report of it to Thraxas.
