I've been considering whether or not to make this post now for a few days. In fact I've argued with myself on sides both pro and con. After much wrangling, I decided to give it a go.

The crux of it is, I am having a very serious neurosurgery on Friday Nov. 13th. Obviously there are plenty of risks for complications of different varieties.

Though this might sound silly to some of you, I am positively phobic about anesthesia. Every time I think about getting knocked out my heart starts pounding and irrational thought sets in. I'm simply afraid of 'waking up dead'. With that said, I feel the need to say a few things, just in case.

I've made great friends here. I appreciate all the good times I've had as a result of being part of the ARPC, and phobia aside and considered, I'll be back at least here and there within a week. I'll have alot of downtime in my recovery, God willing.

Medically my prognosis isn't too bad provided I actually go through with the surgery. If I do, as I said the surgery will be a week this Friday; if all goes well I will have a one or two night stay at the hospital (Holy Redeemer for those of you from the Philadelphia area) and I may just be allowed to ride in a car in about two weeks. If things continue going well I might be back at work around 1/1/10. Then, provided good fortune continues to smile on me I may...MAY...just be back riding my horses come spring.

This has been a rough go for me. At this moment in time, there is no relief from pain for me. My right leg gives out on me, and is often fraught with pain and numbness and all sorts of weird sensations--essentially the nerve is being destroyed.

So that's that. At least if I vanish, I've said my piece and offered my thanks.

Life has been exceedingly hard on alot of people. Its been rough this year. We breath, we live, we die, we touch peoples lives.

It is the last part that means something, the lives we touch whether it be a fun filled night of rp or a deep philospical debate in icq, this is what counts.

Living, laughing, having fun. RP is about imagination and creativity, for these shining moments touching the sky. I know this sounds sappy, I know some of you may laugh. I have learned to live with the digs and criticism.

Why? because i still meet great people, I still have met people that I will carry with me thru all my life, I have memories here that will last a life time. Let us hope Merri that you end up 90 years old laughing about some funny rp moment. Let us hope and be thankful for all that we have been given and given to others.

In this our month of Thanksgiving, I really appreciate, give thanks and am blessed to know you. I will see you very shortly back in game I am positive, good energy fills my thoughts and makes it way to you. Always remember your not alone, no one here really is unless they choose to be.

Oh and from what i hear tell theres a saddle and a horse with your name on it still just waiting..We fall off a horse, we get right back up on it and ride again..

Words are failing me.

You are an intelligent and strong woman. You know the medical system in and out, probably have all the possible outcomes of your surgery memorized by now. If this surgery will relieve you of some of the physical pain you have been dealing with for years now, go through with it. You owe yourself a reprieve after all of the suffering you have gone through. I wish I could be back in Philly to visit you during this time. Be assured that you will be in my well wishes and thoughts.

As for final goodbyes.. you have given a great deal of quality literature and roleplay to this community. You have opened many new avenues of roleplay for many people within and outside of this community. Your creativity is unbound. You have been an emotional lifeline OOC for more than a few people, myself being one of those. You have been an artist, a friend, a source of inspiration for many, and you will live forever in our hearts and on these forums, regardless of the outcome of your surgery.

I know some goats intestines I can examine ... I think I keep them near the bowling balls.

You have been a great friend to me and been very wise in your advice that I mostly tried to follow.

A wise man once said when at a loss for words always quote someone with good wit or wisdom.

I will stop talking now because that same man once said:

"It is better to be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt." (Mark Twain)

I am taking this moment to be selfish. I want a birthday present from you! I want to see you IG no later than Jan 3. I don't think that there's a single person here who will let you "wake up dead". I am pretty sure you'd have a good portion of the ARPC there to revive you when the Dr's couldn't. So you can keep your final goodbyes and I hope to see you soon. Until then.

Happy Thanksgiving
Merry Christmas
Happy New Year

Here's to a swift and speedy recovery. *hugs*

Thank you to the many folks who have offered kind words both here and privately.

Your words are appreciated more than you may realize.

Merrique word cant describe how special, talented and great friend to me. Also I dont want to hear no farewell to all if I dont make it , let all that include you think postive and I wish you speedy recovery. You are strong lady to me I think. I know that you put up with lot of pain and issues with your life and you still manage to make such creative out of this world character which that what I admire about you, you gave me more strength and such. As for you riding your horse I am sure you will get to like my mom I heard her say you fall off a horse , you just got to get back on and try riding it again. So get well and good recovery. I love you my dear Friend. *hugs*

and also to sum it all up
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Today, I should have had serious spinal surgery.

Due to a variety of reasons, I opted to cancel and create and execute a Plan B.

So far Plan B is working, though it has its drawbacks and problems. However, Plan B does not involve general anesthesia.

I am making some improvement these last few weeks. It's been painful and frustrating, but my right leg is only dragging about five percent of the time now versus every step.

The pain levels are reduced and I'm beginning to feel human again. Which is great, compared to feeling Elven. Wink

To those who wished me well, thank you.

To those who talked me through some of the darkest hours, God bless you and many many thanks.

To those of you who were excited about the possibility of my absence...*thumbs nose and giggles*

Thanks again folks.
