After returning to the Tokuno Islands after many years of travel he notices much has changed old friends gone and new clans have come into prominence. Sitting at his desk in his new residence wondering if his old instructor and friend would even remember him. Takeda starts to write a letter to Tai:

O-Sensei 大先生,

It has been many years since we have spoken and much has changed in the Islands. Many of the old clans have all but vanished. I have noticed there is a new ruling clan that inhabits the throne. What has become of you my old friend in this new Tokuno? And what of the clan Otori? We need to sit and talk over some sake so we can reminisce about the past and you can enlighten me as to what has happened in my absence.

Takeda then calls to one of his students, "Oshiego, please go find my old Sensei and deliver this to him". "Hai!" the student replies, "How will I know when I find him?" Takeda replies, "You will know him when you see him he is unmistakable." The student jumps on his horse and rides the lands in hopes of finding the elusive Tai...
