|
'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;
And Me in my 'kerchief, and Will in his cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight elves, the poor dears,
With a little old driver, so sneeky and quick,
I knew by his mask it must be Lord Isk.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
"Now, Airie! now, Lia! now, Ramses and Cat Lyxen!
On, Poshe! on Lylith! on, Mia and Faith you Vixen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of elf ears, and Lord Isk too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The stomping and bellowing of Isk to the group.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney Lord Isk came with a bound.
He was steltily covered, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;
A grumble of curses he made to the pack,
As he dropped it in a pile on the floor near the back.
His eyes -- how they twinkled! his laugh a bit scary!
As he spied the statue of Molly the Faery!
The anger he emitted sounded more like a troll,
His red face hidden, a mask, white as the snow;
The book of humanis he held tight in his fist,
And the candle held high as he checked out his list;
He had a gold cape and a bag by his belly,
He opened it, took a pinch and stopped shaking like jelly.
He was grumpy and slumped, and talked to himself,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;
A twitch of his hand as I poked out my head,
Soon gave me the feeling of overwelming dread;
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And took two steps towards me; then turned with a jerk,
And Will suprising him punched him square in the nose,
And giving a shreek and scrambling, up the chimney he rose;
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
The elves were all gone! He blinked twice and began to bristle.
Then I heard him exclaim, as he recalled out of sight,
"I'll get those nasty elves!" And I yelled, "Not tonight!" _________________ Grand Duchess Molly Kaldhel

She pulled out an old rolled up scroll from the bag of christmas decorations and began to laugh.
We will just have to make copies and pass this out for old time sake! she said with a giggle to Will.
He nodded and began to scribe copies to hang around sosaria. _________________ Grand Duchess Molly Kaldhel

Hmm, I wonder if I should update it this year. Nah...it is still funny.
She tied new colorful ribbons on the old posters and gave them to her messenger to post on bulletin boards around Sosaria. _________________ Grand Duchess Molly Kaldhel
