One by one, Soren filled her required orders for the day. With her thoughts on the events of the past few nights, time rushed past. Putting the Bulk Order Book back into the hand crafted wooden chest, she took off her gloves. Extinguishing the light of the candle behind her, she placed her pack on the back of Stormy, and climbed on.
Last night had found her wandering into Minoc. After hearing a few of Moonglow's people discussing a gathering at a local Tavern while she was doing her daily shopping, she decided she would go for a visit. As a rule, Soren didn't get out much. At least not in the way of meeting people. She had freedom, she wasn't a prisoner. She was allowed to go to various markets, vendor houses and shopping spots. BVut she really didn't talk to those people. Her Grace, the Lady Ariana had been gracious enough the other eve to introduce her to the gypsies. Maybe tonight she could meet other's as well.
It took her an additional half hour after stepping through the Minoc Moongate to arrive her destination. Not so much becuase of the location of the Tavern, but because Soren had no clue where she was going. It wasn't until she got turned around in Tokonu that a nice woman in a dress opened a portal for her to the outside of the tavern. Mentally she noted to herself to locate that woman and say thank you.
Carefully she climbed off Stormy and advised the big blue bug that she would be back shortly and for pity's sake do not go anywhere. Walking through the curtains she noticed a slightly scattered bunch of people. The most noticeable group were the four sitting to the left of her. They were dressed the same as those from Tokonu, where she had previously gotten lost.
She wanted desperately to walk up and say Hi but wasn't sure exactly how she was supposed to do that. She opted instead for a quiet little spot off to the right. Originally she sat down facing what could only be described as ten libraries worth of books. she ended switching seats shortly thereafter however, to get a better glimpse of the entrance and the people who wandered thru.
Roughly an hour later she spotted the blue haired woman from the trial a few weeks back. What was it Bry had said? Oh yes, the lady with a blue hair was a furry person. Soren really wasn't quite sure what that meant but it sounded interesting. And then there was the comment the blue haired one had made about Umbran's not making Luna safe. She needed to understand that better. Gathering up what nerve she had, Soren headed for the table. The blue haired lady wasn't alone, she had company. This did little to settle Soren's nerves.
After politely excusing herself as an interruption to their table, Soren set about her questioning. Although the Blue Haired lady, who Soren finally remembered her name was Merci, was slighty taken aback she was polite. She answered all of Soren's questions with patience. Even the one about Umbran's. When Soren offered her profession in regard to Oblivion, Merci admitted simply making boots did not make them enemies. Soren thought about this and decided it was a good answer. She would have to tell Bry that. After all, all she did was hunt lizard people.
Yes, Soren would have to visit the furry person, Merci and the gypsies she met the other night again sometime. |

Merci took stock of the woman that stood in front of her. Her bright blue eyes perusing the stranger quietly. The woman who introduced herself as Soren of Umbra was a sweet girl, full of love and hope for her land and her life. Merci was slightly saddened. There had been a day when this person would of been one of her own subjects, living happily in a town that only wanted to be respected and left to practice their ways as they wished.
Yet now this faithful servant worked for enemies, enemies that wished her very destruction. She did not dismiss the fact that it was the very land this poor girl worked for that was making her into someday, a casualty of war.
Umbra was quiet now, they plotted they grew, she knew. She was no idiot. But she could not help but feel compassion for the woman before her, the poor gentle soul that followed blindly her masters mad desires. She wasnt surprised that Soren new little of Oblivion, but it was Oblivion someday that would destroy even her, its faithful servant. It would swallow them all...if allowed.
Perhaps Merci could save her from that fate..time was running short. _________________ May destiny guide you... |
