A letter from Regent Thraxas to Empress Miko...

"Your Most Exalted Highness,

Greetings,

I wanted to thank you again for your support in our defense of Yew against the madmen who wish to move against us.

Your word is most comforting and I know your soldiers will fulfill their oaths to you regarding this most deadly endeavor. My servants will be emboldened in their courage knowing they have such exemplary warriors fighting at their side.

Please know that Alderglen will remain safe from these predators regardless. My influence and power over and within that region would never allow anyone, unbidden, sieze and control it for any length of time. I could speak of ancient glyphs and wards, one centered beneath the Academy itself, that would prohibit such foolhardy ventures, but there is no need; as these are not uncommon in our lands.

Sadly, I cannot say the same for Yew, Felucca, the town of my birth. It has ever been prey to thugs and brigands, and even now the issue with the renegade elves of Heartwood remains an open sore that desperately needs cauterizing. I shall see to that, as I have told you.

Part of that has been accomplished. Lord Itannar gave Lord Tai Kwan the original journal of Kayla Ariesus which is to be used in court as evidence of her complicity in conspiracy and as possible accessory to my brother's foul murder. A trial date will be set as soon as possible, regardless of what becomes of these battles.

I will take no more of your time. Again, I am grateful for our association and your support for Yew. I will make sure you are well compensated for your troubles.

Remain blessed,

Thraxas,
Lord Regent of Yew"
