A courier has delivered the following sealed letter to the residence of King Sid:

"Most Esteemed Majesty,

I have received a letter from Mayor Bracken of Blackmarsh. He bids me to open talks with him in his lands. I have agreed to do this, having explained to him that I have no authority to speak for you about your land holdings, only about a political means to avert war. I wanted you to know this lest it be told you by your agents that I have been seen in Blackmarsh consorting with a potential enemy. I will, as always, place the interests of Yew above my own, that being the sole reason for my agreeing to this.

I have also sent word to Protectorate allies and am doing all I can to obtain support, and learn the full extent of the composition of the invasion forces. My agents are hard at work even now at this.

Let your mind be at ease, and rest well, sire.
