The wisp floats quickly from each location,
To Those who know Merrique,
This is a friend of Merriques whom she contacted prior regarding some sort of emergency, then I heard nothing more. I must admit I grow concerned as nights go by and yet to recieve another reply beyond her initial. Please know that if she is no longer in need of my help I am glad to hear all is well. However if she has met some peril I wished to lend what aid I can.
Merci d'Rue

By midday, Adrian was nearly home. Home, he mused. Suddenly it did not feel much like home anymore. Colourful banners still flew high above the treetops, but the camp lay silently nestled amongst the woods on the perimeter of the city. There was no campfire smoke, no scent of fried potatoes and gypsy cornbread. Only silence and desolation lay ahead.
It was there on the fringe of the camp that a wisp approached Adrian and circled him in an upward spiral. He laughed heartily as it zipped and bobbed to get his attention. The laughter felt almost foreign, and certainly out of place in such desolate solitude. But he took the message from the wisp and debated upon his response. He would likely see Merrique before morning came again, but there was no need to keep this lady waiting another day.
When he reached his tent, there was no sign of Soren, and so he took a moment to formulate his response, then took out a sheet of parchment from the chest in the corner and began to write. He paused for a moment, quill in hand, to consider what information he would divulge. The lady seemed sincere enough, but he did not know her, and as such, he decided he would let Merri decide how to respond.
Dear Lady Oracle Merci d’Rue,
My name is Adrian Bishop. I am one of Merrique’s clan, and received your message only moments ago inquiring about Lady Merrique. Your query is thoughtful and compassionate, but please take heart. So far as I know, the Lady Merrique is quite well. She is not presently in this camp, but I fully expect to see her on the morrow. I will pass along your concern and inquiry into her well-being. I’m quite certain that she will reply soon, to expand on my brief response, but I did not wish you to worry for a moment longer. Please, fret not, Dear Lady. If I find the Lady Merrique in harship or peril, I can assure you I shall be in touch with you again soon. Until such time, please be at peace.
Yours Humbly,
Adrian Bishop

Quickly, Adrian turned to the expectant wisp to attach…Well that’s funny. What the living hell do I attach this to?
Adrian took the nestled pigeon off the top of his pack and tied the scroll to his foot. In a low and foreign tongue, he instructed the bird to follow the wisp. Together, the two flitted out of the tent and toward the road. |

Merci nodded looking over the letter. It was good of them to put my fears to rest.
