An ornate box of onyx and ivory inlaid with the silver crest of the House M'real seems to simply materialize at Blackguard, resting gently upon the steps. Talon, King of Sanctus, upon seeing it knows instantly what it is. He has gotten this "gift" before...too many times. Inside it, the heavy stench of preservation fluids and herbs yields to reveal a familiar face floating in the solution. Two empty and now long clouded over bright eyes gaze up at the King of Virtue, too many times these last forty years have the eyes of a Skyfire-M'real gazed up at him in this fashion.
A small note, stitched into the lid of the box simply reads as follows...
Quote: | Dearest Uncle,
If you can take a moment of pause from the treatment of your aged and decaying body after your most humiliating jousting defeat We send a bit of personal family news to you.
We must confess that the feverish pitch of world events since our return has caused us to forget a duty we swore to carry out on behalf of one of your line.
We are remiss, but obligated to tell you, adoptive uncle of our departed wife...
Spawn Skyfire, of The Royal House Skyfire is deceased.
You may take some heart, he proved far more courageous then your most recent familial losses. Your daughter and wife barely resembled a member of the Skyfire line, on their knees, crying, begging.
Best Regards,
Darrien

Talon peered at the contents of the box, expressionless. Spawn had been missing for some time, and he had long ago prepared himself for the worst. These types of tactics no longer provided the shock value they once held. Sadly, the King had grown numb to such horrific gestures.
This display did nothing to strike fear into the heart of the Sanctans. It only served to steel their resolve and add fuel to the undying drive to stamp out the Ebon Skull once and for all.
Talon passed the chest off to the clergy in order to prepare a proper memorial and burial for one of Sanctus's finest heroes and a worthy member of the Skyfire line.
Later that evening, Talon ventured to a storage closet where a few of Spawn's classic green garmets remained. Removing Ice from its scabbard from across his back, he pulled the fabric of Spawn's kilt against the runic steel, shredding off a fine green ribbon.
Mournfully, he affixed the ribbon to the hilt of the legendary blade, adjacent to his daughter's pink ribbon and a sliver of Lord James' maroon cloak. All of these were victims of Ebon Skull barbarism. All would be avenged, in this life or the next. _________________ ~Lord Talon Skyfire
