Stepping from her bath after a taxing hunt with members of Darrien’s Order as well as her patron, Kal’iksix steadied herself against the chair in front of her vanity as a wave of dizziness and nausea pulsed through her. She glanced sideways into the mirror to see the beads of sweat forming on her forehead and her color seemed slightly grayish to her normal deep ebon color. She closed her eyes and breathed through the dizziness and slowly made her way to her bed. The room was spinning and Kal’iksix could not place her finger on exactly what was wrong.

“Goddess,” she sighed, “The water wasn’t that hot and I did not see any mortal wounds from tonight’s hunt.”

Kal’iksix placed her hand to her forehead to fight off the sudden urge to purge her dinner over her spider silk bedsheet. Suddenly she felt a hand on her shoulder which caused her to jump. She opened her eyes to see Drayden standing next to her with a look of concern on his face as he shouldered his bow.

“Vel'bol zhah xusst ussta ssinssrigg? Dos xun naut lor al,” he whispered into her ear, steadying her against his abdomen.
[What is wrong my love? You do not look well]

“Usstan zhaun naut ussta d'anthe. L' cuass'ili tynen lu' Usstan tlun bauth tlu s'ck,” she said resting against him with her eyes close.
[I know not my dear. The room is spinning and I am about be sick]

Drayden scanned over her damp body looking for any wound or puncture site that may indicate what was wrong with his Matron. Sweat continued to bead on her skin and her breathing was somewhat labored as she fought the waves of sickness. Cursing silently under his breath, he helped her to full length of the bed. If this was the work of her Mother and their Queen to get revenge on Kal’iksix’s threat of destroying Her, Drayden would kill Her himself. Then again, if it was one of the enemies of Umbra behind this, he would exact his revenge on them all by himself.

“V'dre ussta ilharess, Usstan zhal kyorl phor dos lu' ser dos sreen'aur,” Drayden spoke softly to her as he smoothed her hair from her forehead. He rose and dampened a piece of cloth with the water from the pitcher by the bed. He placed the cloth on her forehead and continued to stroke her hair as she slipped into sleep. Her breathing slowed a bit but remained restless.
[Rest my matron, I shall watch over you and keep you safe]

“Usstan orn inbau ulu l' harlil d' nindol, ussta ssinssrigg lu' morfeth nindyn responsible, yaith whol vel'bol nind xunus. Usstan swariy nindol ulu dos.”
[I will get to the bottom of this, my love and make those responsible, pay for what they did. I swear this to you]

Kal’iksix walked home in somewhat of a daze. Her friend, Kelly had rematerialized from her self-inflicted slumber and came to see how Kal’iksix and the other drow were doing. Kal’iksix strolled along in the dark and paused at the site of the new temple. The shadow of the immense building loomed before her as she thought back to what Kelly had revealed.

“Another?” Kelly had looked at her with those emerald eyes.

Kal’s initial reaction was confusion and she had questioned her friend about it. Another what?? When the response came back as another child, Kal’s heart stopped. Drayden was going to be a father. Knowing Kelly's mastery over blood, she knew it was true. Oh how she could see Alaundril’s reaction to the news. A wicked grin crept across her face at the thought of his reaction. Kal’iksix’s gaze fell to the guardian statue that had yet to be placed. Suddenly her heart froze at another thought that popped into her head. Drayden had the blood of a surface elf in his veins. Oh the rage her Mother must have at her now. The defiant daughter just mated and is having an impure offspring but yet remains a noble in the house being the daughter of the Matron. Kal’iksix laughed sadistically and spoke aloud to the guardian.

“Vel'bol xun dos talinth bauth nindel Ilhar? Dos ssiggrin dos gumash vrine'winith uns'aa a kostith Nalimar dal uns'aa. Usstan showed dos, nin dos ph' natha grandmother ulu natha kitrye vlos.”
[What do you think about that Mother? You thought you could stop me by holding Nalimar from me. I showed you, now you are a grandmother to a half blood.]

The rumble Kal’iksix heard next was that of the guardian springing to life. It’s eyes glowed bright yellow as it’s head turned to look at her. The large stone figure moved towards her, drawing it’s swords from it’s thorax. Kal’isksix gasped and stepped back, preparing her spells to stop this monster.

“Vrine'winith a quarth d' dosst Ilharess, s'argt.”
[Stop by order of your Matron, guardian.]

The beast pressed on. Kal’iksix thought how ironic that now she discovered she is with child someone was trying to kill her. Reverting to her assassin ways, she slipped into the shadows to defend herself. The beast searched for her, dropping pebbles as he walked. It’s growl shook the ground and threatened to reveal her. Kal’iksix screamed her spell and nailed the monster square in the back. The beast lurched forward but did not fall. It turned it’s hulking mass towards her; Kal’iksix cursed under her breath. She readied another spell and struck dead center of it’s chest at the same time another bolt came from behind it. The monster exploded into rubble before her feet. Kal’iksix turned her crimson eyes to where the bolt had come from to see Drayden standing there. Kal’iksix smiled at him, panting to catch her breath.

“Usstan'bal neitar keffal dos malar saph nindel p'los, ussta ssinssrigg,” he spoke walking towards her.
[I've never seen you fight like that before, my love.]

“Ussta draeval p'los equidai 'zil biu drolnar chu doeb wun draeval d' sreen. Ol zhah henotep automatic,” she spoke breathlessly as he drew her close to him.
[My past skill as an assassin comes out in time of danger. It is almost automatic.]

“Ol zhahus ssin'urn ulu kyorl. Reiyal calestio,” he whispered to her while stroking her hair. The lust building inside of him as always when he watched her in her moments of bloodshed.
[It was beautiful to watch. Quite pleasing.]

“Ilharn, ori'gato udossa yutsu delmah. Usstan inbal folbol ulu tesso dos.”
[Patron, let us return home. I have something to tell you.]

Kal'iksix's news was welcome news. It was silly to think that with all their time spent alone together that this wouldn't happen. Drayden was somewhat caught by surprise however, since he had never sired a child. This made his station with the house even more secure. Of course, that was all open to fate. The birthing of yet another male child would not be tolerated. Nalimar had tested his Matron's patience with that once before and Drayden seriously doubted that she would be as merciful with him if he were to father a male heir. Such a thing would be viewed as falling from the favor of the Dark Queen. There was an odd feeling inside him now, one that had grown in his time here in Umbra. He felt as if he had a place here, a home and now a family it would seem. Drayden missed that feeling, he had almost forgotten what it was like. He was far more connected to his home here than any other in the past. In his earlier years, he had moved around a alot and never really seemed to find a place that he called "home". Now, he had something worth fighting for. More than just abstract idealogy.
More than he could say for his father. What would the old grizzled assassin say?
"At least one of my children will further a pure bloodline..."
"So one of you will not make the same mistake I did..."
"Good luck..."
All of these were possible, but Drayden figured some mixture would be likely. He scowled thinking to himself.
Father. Like he ever knew what that was or meant.
Perhaps this coming birth is a blessing from the Goddess...I suppose the knowledge gained is worth the torture of communing once more...

Drayden walked out of the cave, returning from a visit with Mr. Narshan at the Double Dagger. He always ended his days here at the foot of the temple....laying his soul before his Queen. He rarely communed with her, knowing that she had little time to be troubled by a male. This time his need was different. He fell to a knee and lowered his head, emptying his mind and letting the mists of the Ethereal plane take him...

My queen, I come seeking your wisdom and guidance...
Seek it and begone then Male. I have not the time for your lengthy questioning.
I have provided our Matron with a child so she tells me. I hope this is a blessing from you our great queen, will I sire the first female daughter of Matron Kal'iksix Viaxus?
You have much more value alive then dead Calamyr. As impure and weak as you once were, you have be more of a drow than your idiotic father who betrayed me centuries ago, along with my traitorous son.
That didn't answer my question my Queen....

Drayden could feel his blood start afire, and the throbbing within his head became worse.
Are you done interupting?
He could hear the rage that seemed barely contained in his dieties' voice.
Drayden remained silent, the pain still present, but subsiding.
Your Matron's child shall be a daughter. A strong female worthy of inheriting your Matron's house, more than you could ever do. I don't expect you to understand the intricacies, I only expect you to obey and honor your Matron.
Indeed my queen, this is glorious news for us, we seek only to further your power and influence.
You are male, so your role in this is simple...you will raise this child with your Matron and teach her the ways. The blood of Calamyr and Viaxus will be strong indeed with both of your guidance.
As you command my queen, you humble us with such a blessing.
If that is all then you must attend to your duties Patron, do my bidding and your Matron's and you shall be in my favor. Stray from that and I will flay the skin from your bones.

Drayden returned to his physical form and crumpled to the ground unconscious, feeling quite the same as he always did right after a commune....beaten.

Drayden had taken her news rather well. In fact she thought she saw a hint of a smile creep across his face. Drayden had left to oversee some business at the Double Dagger, no doubt his father’s abandoned business affairs. He had been gone for some time so Kal’iksix decided to get some practice in. She chuckled to herself as she crossed the room to gather her armor and scrolls of spells to take her pets out for a little hunt. Watching her spiders attack local monsters was always a joy to watch and often relaxed her; plus it gave her time to think and plan.

The door opened and Drayden stumbled through the threshold. Kal’iksix, just finishing lacing her tunic, gasped and walked to him. The telltale blood trail from his nose told her exactly what had happened.

Ele xun dos insist pholor haska ilhar? Xun dos inbal natha ssinssrin whol jiv'undus lu' elghinn? Ka ji, Usstan shlu'ta xxizz fulfill nindel ssinssrin lu' ragar jalbyr Ilharn.”
[Why do you insist on talking to Mother? Do you have a desire for pain and death? If so, I can help fulfill that desire and find another Patron.]

Dalharil,” was all Drayden whispered before collapsing on the bed.
[Daughter]

Kal’iksix gasped and sat next to him. She smoothed his hair and allowed him to rest and recover from his recent visit with the Goddess. She dabbed at the blood trail, deep in thought. She sat there, stunned, and watched his chest rise and fall. After some time, she stood and continued her preparation to train. Drayden stirred and watched silently.

Vel'klar ph' dos aluin?
[Where are you going?]

Ulu train ussta lince'san lu' usstan,” she spoke not looking at him but lacing her sleeves.
[To train my pets and myself.]

Xonathull training? Carrying udossta yathrin? Ph' dos vigh?” he spoke raising on one elbow.
[Battle training? Carrying our priestess? Are you mad?]

She turned towards him, slightly irritated. She continued to put on her various magical trinkets.

Ka nindol zhah seke lu' il zhah meant whol nindol phreng, naut jivviim orn doer ulu uns'aa."
[If this is true and she is meant for this realm, no harm will come to me.]

T'yin Usstan tlun coming xuil dos,” he spoke as he started to rise.
[Then I am coming with you.]

L' uoi'nota dos ph'.”
[The hell you are.]

Kal’iksix shot him a look of death and stormed from the room and headed to the stables. Cursing under her breath as if she now was this frail human, unable to fend for herself, she called forth her spiders. Kal’iksix made her way to the forest just east of Shinduago Charnnagen. Not paying attention, still fuming about Drayden’s reaction, Kal’iksix soon found herself in unfamiliar territory.

Quar'valsharess xxizz uns'aa, ” Kal’iksix muttered as she prepared to give the attack order and ready her spells at the flood of beasts heading towards her.
[Goddess help me.]

Bryelle had been on her way to meet a gargoyle about a wolf. Yes that was the story she was sticking to it. With a solid flake red kryss in her hand she spurred the etheral faster toward the forest. She was about to round the corner when she The Matron and her spiders taking at least half a dozen creatures on by themselves. "What in Oblivion's name does she think she's doing?" Faster and faster Bryelle's heels dug into the quarters of the horse. Two Gargoyle's, one reaper, five elementals of various strengths, three wraiths and a nightmare had decided to Oblige Her Honor in a battle. "See if we can't even up the score a little." One by one, Bryelle let the kryss fly along side the Matron's spells.

When the dust had cleared and pieces of Nightmare and Gargoyle littered the dying trees Bryelle turned to Her Honor. "Would you like to explain what that was about?"

"Would you believe I meant to do that?" Kal'iksix chuckles nervously, shaking visably, "Just a bit distracted, that's all. Wasn't paying attention to where I was headed."

Bryelle nodded solemnly. "If you plan on staying I will accompany you on your," Bryelle paused for a moment. "outing. If it's all the same, Your Honor. If not, then perhaps I should accompany you home."

Nods slowly, "Perhaps you are right, I think I will head home...if I knew which way to go."

"This way." Bryelle nodded in the general direction. Taking a second look at her honor Bryelle realized the drow woman had gone pale, which in itself was no small feat. Reaching down she offered a corporeal arm to The Matron and hoisted her atop the ethereal horse. Taking a slow trot they rode home with her Honor's spiders behind them. Once The Matron had been safely deposited back at her own home, Bryelle bid her farewell. "Should you choose to do this again, let one of us know first. We, myself as well, would be more than happy to ride along."

The months of carrying a child were starting to grow thin on Kal’iksix’s patience. The child beat her pretty hard from the inside that she thought for sure the baby would just punch a hole in her side and climb out.

Well if that isn’t the ambitious little priestess. Kill Mother trying to escape the womb”, Kal’iksix chuckled as she patted her swollen belly. The infant kicked and shifted from the touch.

Kal’iksix was also getting tired of the constant supervision from Drayden; many times wanting to cut the child from herself just so that she could go and train and such without his disapproving looks. She knew he always was watching her from the shadows, hell he did that prior to becoming patron, but it seem to worsen once he became a father to a priestess. Although he had not always gotten the upper hand with her, he bore a few new scars from her rage during the rather vocal discussions they had when she wanted to go do something dangerous. She could not fault him completely, for it could have come from the dying bit of surface elven blood of his mother. Kal’iksix knew he was completely drow, surrendering to the chaos that his father forced on him, but she also knew how strong surface elves could be when it came to their death.

Kal’iksix lounged around her meditation room as she did more so as of late, prepping herself physically and mentally for the pain that was about to ensue. Also she knew that no matter how defiant Drayden was about contacting the Goddess, she knew he would not dare cross the threshold of her meditation room unless she requested it so.

Umbra as a whole seemed to solidify under Catherine’s so-called “rule”. Kal’iksix still did not like to have to concede to the human child as her queen. The words literally choked her when she spoke to others and many times she broke her quill when writing it. Like any other power lusted Matron, why couldn’t she kill the child and her mother and ascend to the throne as the queen. She would’ve name Darrien her king but not as a usual marital type ruler but out of appreciation for all he’d done for her and protection he offered as her little house flourished. Kal’iksix shuddered and laughed at the thought of having a lich for a mate. Shaking her head, still chuckling to herself, Kal‘iksix decided it was time to pay her brother in chaos a visit. It had been far too long since she was before Darrien. Kal’ikisx stood to leave the room. She clutched her abdomen as a random pain tore through her. Outside her door, she could hear the sounds of laughter and ecstasy from the priestesses and the males they had brought to the recreational area of the temple. She could smell the nightshade burning. She could not go out with any type of look of panic or pain on her face. She held fast to the doorjam and waited the pain out. Soon it subsided, Kal’iksix paused to see if another would follow. After a bit of time, none had followed so she dismissed it. She straightened her robes and set a stern look upon her face as she ripped open the doors. Flashes of ebon flesh scattered for shelter as she scanned the room.

Dos kuuv ulu indulge wun l' ssrigg'tulen d'lil siltrin while l' ilharess zhah wun meditation?!
[You dare to indulge in the pleasures of the flesh while the matron is in meditation?!]
Kal’iksix conjured up multiple pain spikes and shot them randomly towards the nude bodies. Screams of male and female alike filled the air as the drow scattered. Panting, Kal’iksix leaned on the doorjam again.

Zuch natha delight ulu kyorl dos exert dosst jusron,” Drayden spoke emerging from the shadows, kissing her forehead.
[Always a delight when you exert your wrath.]

Gajak ussta ssinssrigg, Usstan ssrig'luin ulu thalra xuil l' Elghinyrr'fearn. Mziln Usstan treemma l' draeval zhah drawing au whol ussta vlos tlu spilled.
[Later my love, I need to meet with the Lich. Also I fear the time is drawing near for my blood to be spilled]

Drayden’s eyes widened a bit as Kal’iksix brushed past him to leave the temple. Soon he was to be a father to a priestess, but not just any priestess…a high priestess. “Vith'ir! Alaundril, Usstan accomplished vel'bol dos gumash er'griff wussrun'wa bauth.
[F*** off Alaundril, I accomplished what you could only dream about.]
Drayden slipped into the shadows and once again took watch over his matron and his daughter.
