Rufus paced about a dark room in his home. The sheets from his bed tossed all about the floor; a sign that his sleep was less than desirable. He slowly walked over to a lone window, moonlight and shadows dancing around the room. He brushed the marking on his face speaking aloud to himself, "What I did was not wrong...I should be allowed access to the Well of Souls...That poor woman though. I..." He paused for a moment, lowering his head and mumbling a short prayer; "I granted her passage from her torment. Brigands and the lot; they treated her as less than human. No one should feel that. I gave her release...tis all. The ends...justify..." He closed his eyes as his lip began to quiver. A tear began to form in the corner of his eye. "Tis a thing I have longed for all this time. I've felt that place...that dark place call to me. I still do hear Alarins voice."
Rufus narrowed his eyes, looking out the window to a swaying tree branch. The sound of Solen workers walking through the grass could be heard outside his Trinsic home. "A monster I shall not become...or remain. Though, The energies suggest that I gain access. Tis the only way I will be whole. I crave it. I have lost so much. The things that have reminded me of my humanity. All my concerns are of the spirit...with the soul." A small field of purple energy clings closely to his hand. He closes his eyes and shimmers of light dance about; he begins to make a fist, and the energy settles. His hand no longer glowing.
"And I have not seen my home. I have become selfish."
He takes in a deep breath leaning closer to the window's ledge.
"Mayhaps my cravings will cease...It feels as though I have been trapped....The energies do not lie. I must see that Well again. I must....feel it..." _________________ "Balance - the harmony between the Principles of Order and Chaos...Harmony, Dedication and Rationality, the three Principles of Balance, are our highest ideals." |
