The best thing about Tor is that he was constant. Like a brilliant beam cutting through the midnight fog that Pay had so often seen on ships growing up. Tor Morgrim was ever calm, steady and there when you needed him.

The worst thing about Tor was that he was constant. There were no up's and down's. Pay's fists could be clenched in rage and on the verge of going through a wall and Tor would be stoicly poised opposite her with a witty remark on the tip of his tongue. He was capable of passion, of fire. But it was controlled, measured and reigned in at all times. Even his questioning of her motives for the Circle had been steady. As she rose in octave, her temper climbing each rung, his tone never changed.

So when she had finally coughed up her reasoning process conisisting of 3 words that only her Brother and her Nephew had heard from her she should not have expected a reaction. That didn't stop her from wanting one. Now, over a week later, pacing back and forth in his garden she still wanted one.

Had he heard them? Did they sink in? Was she an idiot for telling him the truth? The answer to the last one was probably a yes, but nothing had changed since that night. The routine that made them -THEM- was solidly in place. He hadn't treated her any different, had uttered a single argument. But then again, Tor didn't argue.
