As a squire Danica was not privy to many things in the Order. The tragedy of the recent weeks had opened her eyes. There were many things that had happened behind closed doors that only the Knights or higher knew. With her promotion to officer Lord Simeon had told her how Bellatrix Adhara, once a promising Knight whom he had taken under his wing betrayed the Knights of the Crux Ansata and disappeared with two of their most sacred and powerful relics. The Sword Caliburn, and The Shield of Valor. Both powerful emblems of the Knights of the Crux Ansata, stolen just prior to the Massacre of Fire Island.

Danica had seen 18 new recruits quickly earn their rank of Private, with another 23 close behind them. The ranks were swelling, but there was much needed in the way of instruction on the way of the Knights. Danica hoped that she was up to the challenge and that her recruits would be receptive.

The dark mage Bellatrix Adhara had stolen great riches, betrayed the Order, and murdered hundreds. But she was also wild and unfocused in her lust for power. Should she ever meet someone able to help her focus, or someone powerful enough to command her loyalty she would make a dramatically fierce enemy. As it stood, she was predictable and little more than a major distraction for Danica’s plans of teaching the basic philosophies of the Knights of the Crux Ansata to her new charges.

Three books had been found, in three different assaults on Britannia. The first in Covetous, the second near to Cove at the graveyard, and the third on Moonglow Island.

While these assaults had grown in intensity from one to the other, as did the coded messages each of the minions held. It was a strange thing, why would Bellatrix operate like this, was this yet another trap? Danica couldn’t help but notice the similarity in the first two books. As if each were the same, just illustrated in a different way. Very few mages could runespeak these days, concentrating mostly on their scribed spellbooks, copies of copies of copies, was the knowledge lost forever?

The coded books were important but, so also was the training of her troops. She was beginning to see them that way, Lord Simeon said she would. Her troops, Her students, Her brothers and sisters. Danica thought it would take much longer and apply to only a few, but she was wrong.
