A few months ago...

Restlessness began to take its toll. Urges swept through her as the sea lapped upon the sandy shore, getting so close to the surface then receding barely at bay. Only her duty kept her rooted and steady. Willow hadn't had urges such as these since she was a child. She refused to let them consume her, no matter how considerable they were.

Trainings barely satiated her need to fight; everyone one of her limbs longed to thrust her blade into another foe, as if she could purge her visions of nothing. Walls and mountains had been her unwilling recipient. Willow had almost resented to hear the words "Training dismissed" from Myrddin. Yet inevitably, they came just the same.

"Good job Guardians. Next we meet it shall be on the battlefield." Willow sat, closing her eyes and taking in a deep breath to help keep her battle lust from raging through her veins.

As she concentrated, she felt a hand upon her shoulder.

"Care for a duel?" William asked.

"Lets dance!" Willow replied as she gathered her gear. She was practically running up the stairs into the arena. Her armor was completely equipped as he joined her.

"On your ready" she cooed. In a flash, their duel started. The sound of metal clashing together always excited Willow. Now it seemed to be a beloved mantra, as if it were a drug that she couldn't live with out. One thing Willow appreciated about Castle is that he struck her no differently than any other foe. His blows would be just as fierce if she were a man.

As she was falling in step with his footwork, he suddenly changed course and brought down his blade across her chest. She parried the blow awkwardly. His fury was considerable. He not only knocked her kryss out of her hand, but shattered it altogether, causing a single shard to go into her heart. She dropped to the ground having lost all use of her limbs. Moments passed as William and the other spectators waited for their Enforcer to rise. The moment never came.

"Enforcer...get up?" William requested. She began to fade from their very eyes. She was becoming more and more transparent by the second, her blood continued to seep and gush out of her chest, pooling under her. William gathered Willow into his arms, and ran to the king.

"Enforcer...get up?" William said in a concerned but stern voice.

Blood began to pool around his feet. William put his hand on her cold pale skin, checking for a pulse. I faint heart beat coursed through Willow's veins and William knew that he had no time to waste. With that in mind William gathered Willow into his arms, and ran to find the king.

William was not anxious nor was he even bothered by the situation, his face was calm and his breathing relaxed. William had seen much death in his life, and on a normal day would never even considered helping someone who he believed would not live another hour even with the best of doctors. Yet Williams choices differed this day, perhaps a feeling of friendship is what changed his normal course of action.

"MY KING" William yelled as he kicked open the door to the keep.

Though William was considered a giant among the people of Stonegate, his arms tired from the weight of Willow and all her armor. William scanned the room to only find a blue haired woman who stood in the poorly lit room, her pale white skin reflecting the light from the candles.

"Oracle" William called out to the tall figure in front of him.

Merci looked to William with concern in her eyes, as the body of Willow laid limp in Williams arms.

"Is she...." Merci looked into Williams eyes seeking a quick response, but before she could finish her question William quickly interrupted.

"You must find the King, I require his aid." William said with haste in his voice.

Merci ran out the door, and with that William climbed the stone stairs of the keep to lay Willow's feeble body near the guild stone. Williams face showed no emotion. His ice blue eyes gave what little emotion he had away, though no one was there to see it. Silence surrounded William, only the cold breeze of the winter night was heard as it blew by his ears.

William closed his eyes, as he thought to himself. Was this why William chose to be by himself, the fear of losing someone was never of his concern, but tonight a friendship that he did not know he had was most likely going to be lost. The sound of heavy footsteps echoed in the quite of the night as two people could be heard running up the stone stairs of the keep to where William had laid Willow's body.

William opened his eyes to see both Merci, and the Wolf King now in his presence.
