Lady Yoshi Shimakaze: Clan Shimakaze

Appearance:

Nineteen year old Yoshi Shimakaze stands 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs approximately 125lbs. Her noble bearing and classic features have turned many a head much to the dismay of her father and, like her mother; she has jet black hair and eyes.
Having been trained in the art of war by her father she is physically strong and well toned. A stoic young woman she hides her strong emotions beneath a calm exterior. Her love of fine clothes reflects her mothers taste and influence as her appreciation of well-crafted armor, weapons and horses do her father’s.


Work Description:

Physically strong and well toned Yoshi is an accomplished archer and swordswoman and continues to refine her skill with the sword and bow. A fine horsewoman she appreciates the role of the horse in battle and often joins her father on hunts or accompanies him to purchase horses for the clan.
In contrast she is well versed in poetry, flower arranging, traditional dance and court etiquette as taught by her mother. She is currently studying the history and technique of the traditional Tea Ceremony.


Personality:

Yoshi is highly focused with great powers of concentration. She is dedicated to her family and the prosperity of her clan. Fiercely loyal to her father she continues to study the role of diplomacy and its use in keeping her family politically viable.

A passionate young woman she hides her strong emotions beneath a calm exterior. Having been raised in two worlds, first as a traditional female by her mother then later in the ways of men by her father, Yoshi has a unique perspective that allows her the freedom of independent thought and action granted a male of her world with the unquestioning obedience of a female of that same world.

This contrast is both a strength and a weakness that she constantly wrestles with.

Deeply superstitious she is known to offer prayers to her ancestors at every opportunity. Having had little contact with the outside world she is deeply suspicious of other races and hates Gargoyles’ outright considering them spawn of evil dragons.

Although she has a calm exterior, Yoshi does have a temper which she keeps in constant check. She is reputed to have struck off the hand of an offending minister when said minister used the hand to make an offensive gesture toward her father. A warning sign to the careful observer would be a slight tic at the corner of her left eye just before she strikes. She is also reputed to carry both a paper fan and a poisoned dagger in the sleve of her Kimono although the rumors of the dagger have never been substantiated.

As a warrior Yoshi has no fear of hardship or death and yet, as a woman, she can be loving and tender toward her family and her clan.


Background:

Born in Zanko, in Homare-Jima Yoshi is the only child of Lord Ikrua Shimakaze and Lady Mura Shimakaze. Growing up in a noble house allowed her access to the finest education and training. As a child she spent many happy summers helping her father with the fishing boats or swimming near the family home. Later she studied flower arranging and poetry under her mother’s watchful eye. As she grew and, having no brothers, her father turned his eye toward his daughter as a means of securing his house should he fall in battle. He began training her in the art of war and in particular the bow and sword. Today she lives at the family estate in Malas and assists her father in his role as Charge de Affairs while continuing her studies.

Recent Developments:

Yoshi has been chosen to attend Her Imperial Majesty, The Empress of Tokuno, Miko Nakamura, as a Lady in Waiting to the Court and Imperial Family. A duty which she considers a great honor.


Motivation/Goals:

To defend her family and clan and secure its rightful place in society far into the future.
To become the finest female warrior/diplomat in the history of her family.
