Merci had been at the stone, she didnt know for how long. It is possible she never left the stone the eve before, it was possible that she had been here kneeling near it all her life. The Ritual of Blood the night before had gone well but it had been rough. It had been to long. They had lost focus and sight, been distracted.
She was not worshipping it. This was not some idol to be worshipped. It was a magic, a power, and it worked alongside them. For years it had protected them and once more its energies pulsed and hummed happily near her. Yet there was no peace. There was something missing from this puzzle.
Her head was bent but she could hear the heartbeat grow closer before the footsteps even fell near. How odd that it pulsed so loudly now inside her head as he walked up. Inexplicably tied...
Merci? Her name, almost just a suggestion on the breeze, rolled off his tongue. He was surprised to see her here, or perhaps he was surprised to see her at all. She shimmered next to the stone rising and turning, lighter than air.
This is a rare form for you Merci.
She didnt understand, a haze that filled her head lifted and she moved her arm up catching sight of its ghostly white form.
Oh..
Dark shadows swirled around her, icy winds tearing her apart and rebuilding her, transforming her from a Lady of Snow back into herself. She hadnt done this.. had her meditations taken her here? Had the stone encouraged the transformation?
Your magics are mysterious Oracle.
I dont think they are my magics, Sire. Her eyes glancing to the stone.
Like water thoughts began to pour from her. Her meditations longing to be revealed. We are just a ripple Milord. Nothing has ever meant anything. These material possesions have no meaning. We are the key our clan.. Us. Nothing else we hold has value.
He looked at her and nodded. We are Fate's Instruments.
Suddenly the missing puzzled piece locked into place, his words moving her. The King's eyes seemed to alight with new understanding as well. The sound of his heartbeat growing louder still in her ears. It was as if the Stone had been trying to tell them this all along.
It is time to let go of the excess. She nodded in agreement with him. It will be done. _________________ May destiny guide you... |
