Bella looked out over the water not feeling quite right. It had been about 2 weeks since her love, Lord Cuthbert, had disappeared. If only she hadn't taken him with her for the boat race he never would have fallen in love with the open sea. The next day when he bought a boat and went sailing, that was the last time she saw him. She felt at fault for his disappearance. The guilt and sadness had taken over her in a way she hadn't expected. She loved him more than she had realized.

She had been crying for what felt like an eternity already. As she peered out over the open seas, terrible visions of what could have happened flashed through her head making tears roll down her rosy cheeks. All she could do was hope he was alive. That he would somehow make it back to her.

Bella began feeling weak and sat down at the edge of the dock. Brushing her toes over the water's edge, her tears fell down creating new ripples on the surface clashing with the ripples her toes made. All of a sudden a wave of oddity came over her, she thought she was going to be sick. Maybe she was just tired, and with that, she got up and headed home for yet another lonely night.

It had been almost 5 months since Cuthbert's disappearance, and Bella had discovered something amazing yet frightening. This uneasy, nauseous, not-quite-right feeling she had been having was not due to being ill - Bella realized she was PREGNANT!

It was the eve of the Moonglow Town Council Carnival, Bella could not keep this to herself anymore. With the father-to-be still missing, she needed to tell someone. She couldn't tell her little sister, Giovanna, not yet. What good would that do? While she would be excited, she has never been pregnant. That was when Bella decided to confide in Lady Joanna.

Bella took Joanna aside, with a nervous look on her face. She thought she worried Joanna for a moment, but not knowing what to say, she just blurted it out,

"Joanna, I'm pregnant! And Lord Cuthbert is the father! I don't know what to do, I feel so lost. And I"m not going to be able to hide this forever, I seem to be growing incredibly fast!"

"Oh! This is so exciting!!! You're pregnant? And growing fast you say? You must be having TWINS!"

"Wow, twins... you think so?"

"Oh yes, same thing happened with me, and it was actually Isk who realized it, and he was right! So, are you going to tell anyone, or keep it a secret?"

"Well, you are the first person I have told. I haven't even told my sister yet! I thought you would be the best person to come to first, you have been like the big sister I never had."

"Oh, come! We should go and tell Isk! And we need to go shopping! This deserves a new wardrobe!"

Telling Joanna made Bella feel so much better. Bringing a baby, and now what seems like 2 babies into a world with their father still missing really scared her. But Joanna was such a good friend. Bella was finally smiling again and letting the glow of pregnancy shine from her rosy cheeks.

After Joanna walked Bella home that night, Bella went up to the roof garden of her house and sat under the stars. She made a wish, for Cuthbert to be alive and for him to come back safely. She wanted so badly to be able to tell him about the pregnancy. She rubbed her growing belly and headed back inside to go to bed. Finally, she was able to fall asleep with a little bit of hope for the days to come.
