Lilyth was asleep at her desk in Sea Reah. Glory knocked on the desk waking Lilyth. "A gentleman merchant from Yew Trammel wishes to speak with you Miss Lily, he seems distressed." Lilyth yawned and dressed. A merchant from Yew Trammel Lilyth rushed to gather herself and tend to what mattered most. The citizens and merchants of Yew. Those the Council is sworn to protect.

When she arrived in the small bar on the first level of the great hall Lilyth saw a face she recognized and smiles warmly to Lord Shaezen. A prominent Yew Merchant. His smile was forced and the look of unrest shown in his eyes.

The two sat quietly speaking on Lord Shaezen and the people of Yews unrest. They were concerned with an unknown army taking up positions and guards, rumours of war were rampant and the people in a general state of unrest. Lilyth questioned Lord Shaezen on the physical well being of the people of Yew and was please to know that at least they were healthy though not happy.

The discussion went on with Lord Shaezen offering to bring Lilyth a book from teh citizenry to present at the next council meeting. In the meantime she would confer with Yews new Vice Mayor Lord Nick of the Saints. Between them all a decision on courses of action to settle the citizens concerns and insure the safety of thier homes and children.

In the mean time Lilyth would write Arlin of the Army of the Frontier to present these concerns to him. His presence in the City of Justice was at once a blessing and a curse. But surely they both shared the same concern and love for Yew to have a civil discourse for the betterment of Yew and her people.

Lilyth was hopeful as she began to write.

Arlin looked up from his desk and sighed. A messenger stood there in brightly colored clothing, holding a message from the Runic Knights. He took the message, and dismissed the flamboyant lad.

He unfurled the scroll and read it slowly. So, one fella had gone running to Lilyth, and apparently had decided to speak for the entire city. Another sigh escaped his lips, as he cleared a space on his desk to write out a reply.

Dear Lady Noir
I will meet with you. Bring this 'representitive of the Citizens and Merchants of Yew' along with you. If there are any problems within my city, they will be dealt with. However, do not overly concern yourself with the goings on in Trammel Yew, as I can assure you all is under control.

Also note, that if this citizen you bring is nothing more then a ranting madman or a partisan follower of the Town Council, that all future dealings with the Town Council will be dealt with a grain of salt
Signed
Captain Arlin

He rolled up the scroll and called in a messenger, tossing the scroll the him and giving him directions. He leaned back in his chair as the soldier was dismissed, mulling over the thoughts in his head.

She had better not try ruling my city from afar, begrudging her silently. He had recieved no such complaints from any citizens of Yew, yet here she was, claiming to have one speaking to her. He shrugged it off and went back to the task dealing out the shippment of fish he had recieved from Jehlom.

After all, a full stomach leads to a happy peasent.

Lilyth receives the messenger in grey with a thank you and several gold coins for his time and trouble. Soldiers are notoriously underpaid.

She took the letter and sat at her desk prepared for the usual terse response. She read the words smiling at some points outright laughing. It was just the tone she had expected from a power hungry half ogre.

She took a quick sip from her tea and began to write

Dear Arlin,

As you request Lord Shaezens presence I will have to contact him and arrange a time equitable for all. Perhaps the people of Yew were uncomfortable speaking to you on thier concerns, you have yet to address them of anything past your intent to rule the Town of Yew.
I shall write to you when I can secure a time suitable for all parties concerned.

Respectfully,
Lilyth Noir
Mayor of Yew

Dear Lilyth
You claim to have a vested interest in Yew, and look out for its people, and yet in the time the Yew Town Council was in power, what has it done for the people?

Truly, your blindness must spread to your eyes as well as your mind, for countless times I have watched you walk post Frontier soldiers and medics withing the Abbey, treating the citizens of Yew in the newly formed hospital. Monks and Army personel alike work together to increase the health and well-being of the citizenry of Yew.

Also, I have already begun to stabalize the unbalanced economy brought about by the tragedy of the Juka Wars and an inactive council. I have already begun trade with two other cities, Jehlom and Vesper, bringing in much needed food and medical supplies.

Do not assume to tell me my intent in Yew Lady Noir. I will tolerate only so much arrogance from an absentee Council. I will meet with you as soon as you are willing and able, but I cannot address the concerns of this 'citizen' without meeting him. I am beginning to think that this citizen is nothing more then an excuse to stick your nose into my city.

Come prepared to back up your accusations Lilyth, for I do not dance around the subject, as you already know.
Signed
Captain Arlin

Arlin smirked as he read over the letter he had dictated to his hired scribe. Another benefit of courting Arcana, was she had (or at least attempted to) taught him the finer points of politics and writing. And while his writing skills were still somewhat behind, he find the words flowing easier from his mouth or pen.

He had the letter sealed and sent via messenger back to the Mayor of Yew. He dismissed the scribe and sat down, returning to the more importent work of setting up a secluded and romantic dinner for two...

Lilyth left the abbey with a newfound understanding of the "Captain" of the Army of the Frontier. Her escorts having more respect than thier leader allowed her to leave the once Holy Abbey in the City of Justice freely.

She walked through the woods of Yew pondering. A little dictator, unwilling to compromise. Oblivious to the role of a true leader. His own ego will be his undoing. Reasoning with a half ogre was futile.

Lilyth returned to her home to meet with more who had gatherd to voice thier concerns over the current state of affairs within Yew.

her heart heavy with the knowledge that her suspicions were correct regarding the Captain of the Army of the Frontier
