She leaned against the sandstone rail leisurely, taking in the ocean mist air. The morning was her favorite time of day here on Magincia, before the bussling merchants and mages had opportunity to awaken. This was the time that the city's magestic open aired architecture truly glistened, before the heat of the day had chance to steal the morning's dew. At this time the city lay in limbo, awaiting the day's events.
One particularly large wave crashed into the pillar below, shooting a spray of water into her face. "Pfft!" Dominatria said as she reached deep into her pack, seeking a spare cloth to dry herself. She removed it, and in doing so a small black rune stone fell onto the bridge. It looked smudged and grimey, much like her more well used runes. "But what is it doing in the bottom of my pack?" she thought aloud. Kneeling down to retrieve it, she noticed the inscription on its side, grinning. Anskitas Stronghold it read. It'd been months since she even acknowledged her past, much less embraced it. Her work with the Humanis Party had consumed her. Dominatria then remembered the work she'd done for the Anskitas, turning the rune over in her hands. She then adeptly chanted the words "Kal Ort Por".
The cool ocean mist was now replaced with a rather cold winter chill. The Stronghold had of course been remodled, but to her surprise a small out building remained. A hardbound book lay at its entrance:
This library contains books from all over the realm. It was assembled by Dominatria when the Order of the Anskitas was striving to enlighten the realm...
A large smile now adorned her face. "My library was preserved after all."
After many moments reading over its many titles, Dom happened upon a small red book. Its title was branded on the cover in deep blue: Truth, Honesty and Law. Removing it from the shelf and opening its cover she noticed a familiar author's signature, also in deep blue. Dominatria Azimuth. Only two pages had been transcribed, but she read over them intently. She hardly remembered writing the words so eloquently outlining the virtue she loved, yet here they were. She read them over and over again as one might a love letter, or declaration of war.
Dom closed the book abruptly, she exchanged it in her pack for a dark blue book of runes. Skimming its contents, she removed the rune marked 'Lycaeum' while simultaneously chanting Kal Ort Por once more.
Now, over a year later, the novel would be finished. _________________
