‘Eh, whose the dirty one now Arcana?” Arlin chuckled, making light of the fact that she was covered head to toe in mud stains and the gaudiest armor he had ever seen her don. She attributed it to riding around all day, practicing her archery with new found grace and speed. ‘Looks like you’s the one needin’ a bath this time Arcy’ the half-ogre commented with a smirk.

Arcana giggled, reminded of the previous night, where she had tricked the former mercenary into a bath at her favorite waterfall. Of coarse, they did less bathing then she had intended, but she could hardly complain. Just the thought of last night made her face flush a bright red.

This wasn’t lost on Arlin, who was thinking the same thing as her (well, mostly). This time though, she wasn’t going to have to trick him into a bath. ‘C’mon Arcy, le’s git ya cleaned up a bit eh? An’ outta them ugly clothes’. She nodded in response, as they both recalled to her latest romantic retreat.

It wasn’t long before the ground was littered with armor and half-torn clothing. By the time they had finished, dusk had turned to dawn, and Arcana lay atop her lovers broad chest, their bare bodies covered only by Arlins immense cloak. She nuzzled into his chest, tracing his collarbone with her finger as he kissed the top of his head.

Arlin sighed, staring up into the stars as he wrapped his arms around his lovers waist. His life was in turmoil, and every moment he spent in Yew, it seemed like someone else trying to claim it for themselves. But all the time he spent alone with Arcana was a little slice of paradise. His problems seemed to drift away into nothingness when he gazed into the blue eyes that completed what he considered was the perfect woman.

‘Arcy..’ he started, unsure of how to continue ‘I know I aint say this enough, but I love you Arcy. When I is with you, the world jus’ seems ta fade around me. I wish there was somethin’ I could do ta prove jus’ how much I love ya.’ She smiled up at him, her sapphire eyes sparking in the rising dawn.

‘Arlin, you don’t have to prove anything to me. Everytime I’m with you, I feel so happy, so alive. I haven’t been this happy in so long…’ she smiled as she spoke, locking gazes as they talked themselves through the sunrise.

The past and the future were spoken of with both sadness, and anticipation. They laughed, until finally, exhausted from their activities, Arcana drifted off to a peaceful slumber in her lovers arms. He rocked her gently, his final thoughts before also succumbing to exuastion, was that at this moment, he had never been happier in his life.
