The sun was just starting to appear over the sea as the ship Alessandra was on approached the docks of Dark Cove. The captain had asked that she stay under, with the escalation of pirate activity, but there was little that could have kept her down under this morning. She watched as the sun slowly touched the water making the waves shimmer like the star sapphires in her most treasured earrings. She closed her eyes and allowed the sun to warm her face, and as she did she breathed in the salty mist of the sea. The smell brought her back to a simpler time, when she was younger. Living in Minoc with her guardians she had learned to love the sea. It could be both a friend, as well as an enemy, but for her it was always a comfort. The sound of the waves hitting the shore was more calming than a lullaby. It was the sea that soothed her pains, both in heart and mind. She would often sit on the cliffs watching the boats wondering where they were traveling to and what adventures they had seen. As she opened her eyes, those memories faded away and she could see the docks of Dark Cove coming into view. She had not let anyone know that she was arriving today. They would know soon enough.
As the ship docked in the Cove, she gathered her bag up, and made her way through the town to the gates. She noticed how the citizens of Cove, just starting their day, looked at her. A small girl making her way towards the market with the first catch of the day stopped to watch the ship and Alessandra wondered where she was dreaming of going to. As she was exiting through the gates she couldn’t help but notice a sign for an open tavern night at The Dark Adder. That should be fun, she thought to herself. The men, all of them, needed and deserved a night of enjoyment.
She picked up her pace and continued along the way to her home. She couldn’t help but slightly wish she had sent word of her arrival, and she looked over her shoulders the entire way home. The feeling reminded her of when she first started coming to Dark Cove. As she thought of her early travels she subconsciously twisted the golden bracelet that had adorned her arm for quite some time. Long before The Dark Order had made their home there, there was something else that brought her to this Cove. The mere thought of the man she had been friends with and had grown to love brought a warm flush to her cheek and a tear to her eye. How safe she used to feel knowing he was near by. He was what had made her brave, not the armor she wore, nor the magic’s she had learned to wield. She had been young and naive and let their love slip away, all due to her silliness. How she longed for him to return. She pulled herself from her reverie and paid attention to the forest surrounding her as she headed home. She laughed slightly recalling how she used to fear the occasional ogre or orc that traveled through Cove. Today it was not the local monsters, such as the ogres, that bothered her. It was something far more evil. She entered her home and quickly bolted the door behind her.
She made her way up to her chambers where she dropped her bag next to her bed. She sat on her chair and gazed out her window to the ocean, recalling times that had past. The time she had spent in Ilshenar had refreshed her body and mind… now it was time for the heart. She slowly retrieved a special box from under her bed with mystical carvings on it. It had been a gift to her from her mother, as she had been planning her wedding. She opened it and in it lay the things she cherished the most… a book of her poetry from earlier days, a bottle of wine from her sister Fearyl’s wedding, a diamond necklace inherited from her mother, a bracelet of rubies given to her from a dearly departed friend, and a simple pair of diamond earrings, that meant more to her than all the gold in the banks of Britain. She slowly removed the golden bracelet from her wrist and held it to her heart. Her heart would forever remain with the keeper of the other bracelet, and she would forever be bound to him. She knew that to live in the past, as she had been doing would not take her back. “If fate brings him back to me”, she whispered to herself, “then it is meant to be.” With that she laid the bracelet in the box and closed another chapter on her life, ready to begin a new one. Perhaps… one day the bracelet would reemerge to reunite with its mate… Until then here it would remain.
She then placed the box back under the bed for safe keeping and made her way up to her study to let her fellow guild mates and friends know of her return. She pulled out a clean parchment and began writing, first to Lord Gerhart…
Dear Mave,
I trust that this letter finds you well and in good spirits. I wanted to let you know of my return and thank you for allowing me the time needed to refresh my spirits. My trip was beneficial in many aspects, refreshing to the mind, body and spirit. I know that before I left, you were seeking counsel with me and I would like to arrange a time that is good for you.
Affectionately and In Service,
Alessandra
After finishing her note she pulled a fresh sheet of parchment from her desk and began writing to Beowulf…
Sir Thormear,
I trust that this message finds you well. I wanted to thank you and your friend Thrakus for keeping an eye on things here in the Cove while I was away. It certainly makes me feel more secure knowing that there are gentlemen like the both of you here in Cove. As I was entering Cove I noticed your announcement for tonight’s festivities and wanted to let you know that if you need my assistance I will be available.

Lady Alessandra
After finishing the second letter Alessandra shakes her hand out a bit and retrieves yet another piece of parchment…
Dearest Ditto,
I trust that this letter finds you and your family all well. I wanted to let you know I have returned and would love to find a time for us to catch up at the Garden, like old times. I have a matter that I wish to discuss with you as soon as you are available. Perhaps we can even pull Cat away from Sir Poet and make it a true ladies night. Please let me know when you are available.
Affectionately,
Aless
P.S. Please send my regards to your brother, along with my appreciation for assisting me on the night… well we will talk soon…
She quickly tied up each parchment and called for her doves and sent them on their way with their messages… _________________ Ken: I don't put anything in my mouth I don't intend on swallowing...

Ditto had just finished tying the last knot to a string that had a bundle of flowers wrapped around a skinny bare tree limb of a small tree in the house yard. "There." She said stubbornly, as she stepped back to admire her work. "Now, at least one tree in Dark Cove has flowers".
Picking up her flower basket as she was about to head inside, she spied a small beautiful dove flying towards her. With an excited giggle and clap, a smile beamed over her face. "Aless' birdie!"
She hadn't heard from her sister since before her last trip to the Young Kingdoms and was anxious to know how she was doing. Before the dove had even finished its landing upon her shoulder, Ditto was reaching for the attached parchment.
Reading over the letter, her face brightened even more at seeing the news that her friend was home. Dropping and forgetting her basket, Ditto ran quickly across the lawn, shouting excitedly. "Aless is home! Aless is home!"
She stopped short at the door to the keep and pondered a moment. "I wonder which brother I give regards ta?" Scratching her head, and shugging, she went inside saying, " I'll just give all of em her regards ta make sure I get the right one."
