Govan looked over Flamestrike, from nose to tail. The red dragon looked back, curious, hoping to go on a hunt, but not sure what was going on. Flamestrike was filthy.. not even rolling in the hay and sand in the stables helped remove all the dirt and junk caked on, and even between, her scales, dulling their ruby shine. Eowyn waited on the balcony with a few buckets, near the water trough. She also had some lengths of rope nearby. Ainfean had gone to training, but had offered to come back if they needed her. Dragons made great friends, but made worse enemies, and, being fire-based creatures, they tended not to care a whole lot for water.... or at least Flamestrike didn't. Govan knew that Flamestrike would not like the bath she was going to get, one bit, but Flamestrike reaked, and Govan was strong enough to attempt it. Govan first tried the diplomatic approach to getting Flamestrike to behave during her bath, but Flamestrike would not have any of it... So the wrestling match began.. Eowyn and Govan versus Flamestrike.

"POUR ON THE SOAP!!" Govan called out to Eowyn.

Eowyn took a bar of soap and dunked it in a bucket of water. She rubbed it between her hands, to mix some of the soap with the water, then took the bucket and poured it down over the dragon's head, Flamestrike being right outside the house. Flamestrike's head came flying up. Eowyn barely escaped the snapping of those giant jaws and dangerously-sharp teeth. Govan jumped on Flamestrike's back, a big brush in her hand, and started vigorously brushing behind the dragon's ears, trying to avoid the claw-like spikes at the top point of each of Flame's wings as Flamestrike flapped viciously, and flailed her head about. It soon became painfully obvious that they were going to need a couple more hands. Govan called for Pere, the small falcon, and sent her to go get Ainfean. Eowyn poured on another bucket of soapy water as Govan tried to hold tightly to Flame's neck with one arm, and scrub the dragon's neck with the other hand, her feet not exactly getting good traction either. Ainfean soon came and saw the trouble.. She went upstairs to the balcony, where she grabbed a second brush. She dunked the brush in the next bucket of soapy water that Eowyn was mixing up, then made a reckless jump off the balcony rail. Luckily she ended up right on target, right on Flamestrike's face. She quickly wrapped her arms and legs around the dragon's muzzle. Flamestrike tried shaking Ainfean off, but without success. Ainfean took the brush and started scrubbing the dragon's face and between her horns. Govan started working on Flamestrike's shoulders and back, where the teeth and claws were not. Eowyn kept the soapy water coming as Govan and Ainfean kept scrubbing. Ainfean showed just how agile she really was as she continuously avoided Flamestrike's attempts at clawing her off with her front feet. Just with that distraction alone, Govan was able to scrub Flamestrike's back and wings pretty well. After that, it became obvious that her dexterity wouldn't get Flamestrike's back end, tail, or underbelly clean. So, Govan went upstairs, and traded jobs with Eowyn. Eowyn, being a warrior, was very adversed in avoiding blades, so claws, horns, and spikes, were hardly a problem. Eowyn was able to scrub the rest of Flame's hindquarters and belly, Ainfean was able to finish up with the dragon's head and neck, but it took the both of them together to finish off her front legs. Rinsing Flamestrike was another epsiode of Eowyn and Ainfean dashing here and there, ducking, jumping, anything to avoiding getting bitten or clawed. Ainfean had to let go of Daishi's head, so that it could be rinsed well too, so that gave them even more of a challenge. Drying off was the only part Flamestrike seemed to appreciate, though by then, all three girls were soaked from head to toe. All three of them took bedsheets, and rubbed down the dragon. Govan took a chisel and cleaned out any leftover debris that was still stuck between Flame's scales, and knocked out any dead scales that refused to fall out. Flamestrike became very cooperative all of a sudden, appreciating the massage, and the removal of all the stuff that made her itch at those spots she just could not reach. She even didn't complain when Govan wanted to file her claws a bit. The claws were only slightly filed down, so Flame wouldn't put holes in the floors.

Once Flame was all spiffed up, her ruby scales gleaming as they should, Govan was going to head off to put her back in the stables, to enjoy a bit of rest. Eowyn and Ainfean stood back to give the dragon plenty of room. Govan was just about to recall with Flame, to the stables, when Flame got a sudden, mischevious look in her eye, then, quicker than anybody would expect a creature of that size to be able to move, turned and swiped at Ainfean, as if a final payback for all the annoyance of Ainfean holding her mouth shut. Govan and Flamestrike disappeared before Ainfean hit the ground, a dragon-snicker still on the wind. Eowyn quickly bandaged the deep gash on Ainfean's hip, enough to control the bleeding, then helped her upstairs to finish tending to it.

"Just what I need," Ainfean said, jokingly, despite the pain obvious in her expression. "A scar to show that I survived bathing a dragon."
