All was reasonably quiet when Lilyth returned home to Sea Reach. The past few weeks had been interesting, frustrating, and far too busy. Her journal was missing days of entries. There simply weren't enough hours.
Meetings had transpired ranging from discussions with Shaezen and the Merchants Guild to Dealthagar of the Awakening. Even a run in with a long lost elf friend Khyl Dran. Shaezen was still concerned and had requested membership on the Town Council. Lilyth was doing her best to both quell the unrest amongst the citizens and bring the Council and the Army of the Frontier to a more civil and mutually beneficial discourse. It was exhasting, and many trips to the Shrine of Honesty had been made simply to find a quiet place to reflect. That is how she had stumbled upon Dealthagar.
Traversing the frozen tundra of Daggar Isle to the the shrine he had darkened her path. The two spoke briefly. For her life Lilyth could not figure this man out. Nor did she wish to, looking at him now all she saw was a shell of a man she had once called friend even through a mass of philosophical disagreement. They had a respect for one another, once. Dealthagar apologized, assured her that no harm would come to her. No harm she thought. I wonder who wishes to harm me, she eyed Dealthagar suspiciously and listened until she had heard quite enough. The decisions had been his, his choices were made and though it stung they were quite done with one another.
Lilyth returned to the warmth of her home and the smile of the one she loved. Kotare was always there to greet her, his presence washing away the drudgery of politics and never ending meetings. He was her rock it showed more with each passing day.
Upon the next evening Lilyth met Vice Mayor Nick at Empath Abbey, he had been called to AOF's HQ and had asked Lilyth to go along. As they arrived they were greeted by the guards on the doors and soon Arlin emerged. Lilyth listened as Arlin coughed through what could have been construed as an accusation against Nick for an assasination attempt. Lilyth knew it was preposterous to even entertain the idea that Nick would have a hand in such a thing. She held her temper and her words. The two left for the Saints Festival after Nick had explained his purpose in Poets Garden around the time of the assasination attempt.
The Saints Festival was a joy and a relief, she met her guildmates and her love and proceeded to let everything in the world go and simply enjoy the moment. The evening was a joy the group all laughed joked and laughed heartily at one another. It seemed over too soon. As the festival wound down the group disbanded. The Knights had won a prize and Lilyth needed to put it in a safe place to be presented to the YTC treasury upon it's next meeting. her path led to the Abbey.
The guards were on the Abbey doors as always, but unlike past days they were quite polite. She had to admit these three she had been impressed with. Dan, Beccah and Flik were very easy going with her while maintaining thier posts. One even opened the Abbey doors for her to pass. Quite the gentleman she thought. Inside she spoke with the banker who informed her Lord Kotare had left her a gift. Passing the bank notes to the banker she recieved the parcel Kotare had left for her. She opened the box, stunned to see the armor inside. It was gorgeous of the finest elven craftsmanship. She smiled to herself before slipping into an unoccupied room to try it on. It fit her well.
Gleaming in her new armor she exited the Abbey and exchanged pleasentries and news with the AOF Army members on guard. The hour was growing late and Lilyth made her plans to depart. The Army was about to patrol and Lilyth had no wish to divert them from thier duties. She stood searching for her a rune to one of her more amusing hunting grounds, and was surprised when Lt. Dan asked her to join them on thier patrol. It would be informative, and she was quite interested in a first hand look without politics coloring everything and harsh words being exchanged.
The group departed the Abbey and Lt. Dan, Flik and Beccah proceeded with purpose and commeraderie. These were traits Lilyth respected and was glad she had decided to accept the generous offer of joining them that eve. The roads were not terribly bad, the Patrol decisivly dealt with the various threats on the road. "Most impressive", Lilyth remarked to them as the party became more relaxed and friendly towards one another. The group made the rounds of the roads with Lt. Dan being more than accomodating as both a guide and a guard. They returned to the Abbey and disbanded to thier homes. All in all a wonderful learning experience and good company on the lonely roads. Before leaving the Abbey Lilyth looked to it's hallowed walls. "Why can every interaction with this Army not be as pleasent as this eve. We are all people of Yew. Things should not have become so complicated." she spoke to herself she knew. A small sigh escaped her lips as she uttered the words to return home.
Lilyth entered the Barracks at Sea Reach finding Kotare comfortably sitting in a chair his feet up on the table. She smiled to him and spun round in her new armor. "You approve?" she asked, he replied "I do indeed". _________________ "Always forgive your enemies. Nothing annoys them so much."
