|
Later that night after everyone was well asleep except a few servants. Tarothin slipped into his study to ponder about that night.
The night went very well. Better then expected. At first he thought that things would...soon be...not where he wanted to say the least.
He had met with an important piece on the board. New options are now seen in his mind. Things that were at first looking close to a stalemate do to some unexpected moves, now...may yet have his ideal's of complete order shine through.
Every move now requires careful manuvering. And most of his hard work could have very well and still might, come spiraling down because of one simple thing.
A spy.
He smiles slightly. Something that was handled quite well. I had thought I would need resort to hard actions, but it never had to come to that.
Porthos carefully asked his questions. Questions on the information that he had recieved. And I in turn did the only thing I am honor bound to do.
I simply told him the truth. But...only enough of the truth to put him at ease.
He smiled again after reaching over the sleeping form of his daughter to move a piece on the board. So intelligent for her age. Asking me about my reasoning on doing so, and the tactics involved.
That is not the ways of honor that I was taught she said. I simply replied that it is the...darker side of honor. Honor bound into telling always the truth...but not necessarily the whole truth. One must be more specific with their questions if they wish more.
And so, the slight glitch in plans...was put to rest....for that day at least.
Now...taking his hand off the piece after it was moved to brush it over her dark hair. She mumbled in her sleep something about gutting if the hand was not removed from her head. Couldn't help but smile at that. Definatly his child.
He knew that time moves much quicker in the Ditto's homeland then it does here...but already Seven years old? Surprising that she wanted to come here...or people wished her hear when his son was still over there training. Still very young she is. It was indeed a shock to see her at the training grounds when Nazralte did me the favor on picking up what I thought to be...well...anything but a person.
I will train her over here then. In tactics, politics and weapon skill. For it seems they failed to teach her many things and the multiple sides of the same thing...A very intelligent girl she is...
The days ahead will be more interesting indeed....
Smiling at his daughter's sleeping form before then walking out of the study. |

After meeting with Tarothin, Porthos mounted his steed and headed for home. Heading out of Dark Cove, the rhythmical clip-clopping of the horses hooves put him into a trance of deep ponderance. He was still confused by Taro's quick round about answers to his questions. "The man should have been a politician" Porthos thought to himself. Some things just didn't add up. He hated general answes to direct questions and he hated that spy for coming to him. "Why do I need to carry the burdon?!" He yelled out to the forest. Playing the scene over and over again in his head he came to the conclusion it would be best to tread lightly....for now. " We will see what transpires over the next several days" he mused. He wondered if that strange woman would return with more information. His heart raced at the mere thought. "I need not more excitement than this adventure has already brought". Before he knew it he was at his house, grateful the horse knew the trip, for he did not remember any of it. "Good boy" he said to the horse and gave an apple to the animal, "We'll just have to keep a close eye out and on people for now, won't we?". He rubbed the horses mane and went off to bed. _________________ Thanks Simon
