As Vaen was sitting inside Poet's tavern, having good conversation with Mallory, Phyrra, and Dymm, a man named Tobias came in and demanded to know the whereabouts of a Vaen Swiftar.

"That is me..." Vaen said

"You! You murderer!" Tobias exclaimed

Vaen seemed confused and looked around, then looked back at Tobias. "What?"

"I saw you murder Marcus. I saw it with my own eyes. I am here to bring Justice to you!"

Vaen looked very confused, and tried to explain what happened. "No no, Marcus attacked me. You have your story wrong!"

Tobias seemed stubborn in his opinion, and wouldn't accept Vaen's version of the story. "No, you are lieing! I saw you murder your best friend! Come outside, we will settle this now!"

Mallory looked between the two of them and Vaen looked at her. Vaen then placed a hand on her shoulder and then nodded over to Dymm and Phyrra. "All right..." he said to Tobias.

"Vaen..." said Phyrra

Vaen closed his eyes and then nodded to himself.

"After you, murderer," said Tobias

Vaen and Tobias exited and went downstairs, and immediately a fight started. Tobias charged at Vaen screaming "Murderer!" and Vaen clashed swords with him. The two tried to push eachother away, but their strengths matched and only resulted in a stalemate.

"How could you do that?! You and him were so close! You murderer!" Tobias said, drawing his sword away and slashing down at Vaen, who parried with his shield.

"I did no such thing! You are hearing lies!" Vaen said as he stepped back in a defensive stance.

"You lie!" Tobias said as he charged Vaen once again and slashed at him.

This slash caught Vaen's left arm, and tore open his robe and a small part of his armor, leaving a slight gash on his arm. Vaen gripped his shield tighter to hide the pain. "Ask anyone," Vaen said, "They will tell you that I've done no such thing!"

"Why should I believe that?!" Tobias said, readying another slash.

"Because Marcus still walks these lands today!"

Tobias let down his sword and seemed confused. He looked down at the grass and then up at Vaen

"You lie... that is not possible. I saw you kill him!"

"No! I told you, I killed him in self defense! But now he walks these lands in search of revenge. He's become a murderous bastard!"

Tobias seemed slightly upset by this news, but he stuck with his opinion. "Prove this to me. You have no proof!"

Vaen looked around and then said "Listen. You can find Marcus in Umbra from time to time. If after some time you end up not finding him, I will offer you my life. If, however, you do find him, you must join with me and the rest of the Legion in our search for Justice. And if you find that Marcus was indeed the attempted murderer, you will join me in trying to bring him to a justful death."

Tobias looked at Vaen and nodded slightly. "If I don't find him, I will kill you." Tobias then muttered a magic phrase and disappeared.
