Yew had been relatively quiet since the last of the Orc battles. The town and its new government were doing well. Indeed it was beginning to show signs of flourishing once again. Duchess Lilyth was pleased to be able to spend her time on lighter pursuits. The festival was in planning, her husbands new found warmth was her comfort, indeed things were going well. That was until the evening of the Royal Council meeting in Luna. The meeting had moved along quickly, though an assassin had often made their presence known in the Council chambers. Following the meeting the Commonwealth entourage gathered outside making ready to depart that was when the petals appeared beneath her feet and those of the Duke. In the days that followed Lilyth warily went about her tasks, knowing that her guard was alert did not help ease her mind on matters. As she prepared for the Yew Commonwealth meeting Lilyth became particularly uneasy, this assassin chose to strike in the most public of places. Lord Sid had already had a rather nasty encounter. Arriving at Empath Abbey she found the other Commonwealth council ministers and representatives, they proceeded to the meeting without incident. Once safely inside the home of Lady Wicked Rose of the Hand of Ra Lilyth relaxed. She was surrounded by the council, her own guards, her husband and members visiting from the House of the Gauntlet. The meeting came to order with the first item being the assassin who seemed to lurk in all corners. The discussion went on as the people of the Royal Council provided information to the Magistrate Lord Itannar, Sheriff Stone and Constable Jack. As the talk turned to the coming preparation for the Yew Commonwealth festival Lilyth heard a shriek and a searing pain, she was being attacked. The Sheriff and guards reacted quickly, tending her wounds even before the assassin was captured. Duke Kotare, Lady Wicked Rose and Lady Genna assisted Lilyth to a safer resting place as the suspect was taken into custody to await trial. She owed her life to these fine people; it was something she would not forget.
