I've had a number of people ask me how to build a suit with good resists and mods lately. So, I've decided to go ahead and just make a post here on how to do it. Being the community's head twink, I feel it is my duty.

Follow these steps and you will get a good suit for both PvP and PvM. Please note, however, that this is only one way to do this. There are others.

1) Set up a basic resist suit.
Armor is VERY abundant today. There are numerous artifacts out there as well. It is extremely easy, and very cost efficient, to make yourself a suit with high resists. Aim for all 70's if you can.
NOTE: Make sure the suit does not rely on a shield or jewelry pieces for more resists! (Thanks, Kuja)

2) Calculate the suit's actual resists.
So you have a suit that says 70/70/70/70/70 in game. But what are its actual resistances? It could be something like 74/76/84/73/91. This is very important to calculate.

3) Replace pieces gradually.
Using the above example, notice that you have LOTS of energy resist (91). Look through your suit and find what piece has the most energy resist. For example, a piece like 9/6/9/9/24. Taking this piece off, your resists will show as 65/70/70/64/67. Still good resists, and you are missing a piece of armor! Find something with good mods and good resists. Do not get a piece of armor with low resists, though, as you still have other pieces to replace. Do this for all of your pieces until you have the good mods.

4) Magic Reflect and Reactive Armor.
Two spells that anyone can cast from a scroll at 20 magery (0 if you are human!). Here is what each of these spells does:

Reactive Armor: +15 Physical Resist, -5 Elemental Resists
Magic Reflect: -25 Physical Resist, +10 Elemental Resists
Simultaneous: -10 Physical Resist, +5 Elemental Resists
(NOTE: Inscription alters these numbers, read below)

So fool around with these spells if your resists are a little imbalanced. The suit I use as of today (3/13/0Cool has 92 Physical Resist. Therefor, I use Magic Reflect, which helps balance out all of my resists to a nice 67/70/70/70/70.

4a) Inscription.
Inscription lowers the penalized resists depending upon your skill. The formulas are as follows:

Magic Reflect: Physical decrease = 25 - (Inscription / 20)
Reactive Armor: Physical bonus = 15 + (Inscription / 20)

This means that a character with GM inscription will only be penalized 20 physical with Magic Reflect on, and will gain 20 physical from reactive armor. So it cancels out. HOWEVER! You will still gain 5 elemental resists from having both on.

Human characters will have the base 20 factored into these totals, meaning that if you have 0 magery as a human, you will lose 24 physical from Magic Reflect, and gain 16 from Reactive Armor.

There, you now have a suit that you can use. But, what should you aim for?

Mages (Chiv Mages, Necro Mages, Bushido Mages):
Lower Mana Cost is a must. You will find that it will help you cast MANY more spells. Lower Reagent Cost is also very nice for PvM situations. Who wants to carry reagents around, anyway?
Mana Regeneration comes in second. It's always nice to have good mana regen.
Mana Increase comes third. Having a large mana pool is always a good thing.
Everything else is last.

Warriors (Chivalry Warriors, Necro Warriors, Bushido Warriors):
Lower Mana Cost and Mana Regen. Not as much lower mana cost as the mage, but enough to keep you moving.
Stamina Increase and Mana Increase. Both equally important. Good to have high swing speed and mana increase.



Manipulating Your Suit:
Remember this!
Magic Reflection does this to your suit: -25/+10/+10/+10/+10
Reactive Armor does this to your suit: +15/-5/-5/-5/-5
Together, they do: -10/+5/+5/+5/+5

So if your suit has some kind of resists like 80/63/64/63/70...
Throw on magic reflect and reactive armor, and you get..
70/68/69/68/70. Much better.

I may add to this as time goes on, as more come to mind. Hope this helps.

I would also like to comment, when you buy a resist suit, do not buy one that has the resists of a shield/jewlery included.

A GM scribe also has some modifications to Reactive Armor and Magic Reflect.

Reactive Armor does this : +20/-5/-5/-5/-5
Magic Reflect does this : -20/+10/+10/+10/+10

Total together : 0/+5/+5/+5/+5

So it would be wise for a GM scribe to cast those spells once each and get a free 5 resist points in all elemental resists.

I too would like to add something. Stat and Attribute Modifiers, though seemingly petty on single pieces, come in extremely handy as a suit. I have one put up that gives +24 HP and +30 mana, and still has nice resists (all 60's).

This is for beginners. I could most definitely go into the complicated style of suit building, but not here.

I am currently using a suit that has 69/70/70/70/70, 40 lmc, about 10 mana inc, and 5 mana regen. Though they use two tokarties, it is immensly good. While i was fighting at the tourney during i think my second match, my opponent stopped casting, while i was down to only 120 mana out of my 156 without blessings. LMC COUNTS!

Well, this is how I did my suit:

I bought an all 70's suit for like, 6 mil (back when they were priced higher)
Over time, I replaced every single piece to fit my needs.
I still do that from time to time.

Today, my suit is the following:

Resists
Physical Resist .......... 66
Fire Resist .............. 70
Cold Resist .............. 68
Poison Resist ............ 60
Energy Resist ............ 70
Regenerations
Mana Regeneration ........ 10
Stamina Regeneration ...... 2
Lowering Costs
Lower Mana Cost .......... 40
Lower Reagent Cost ....... 12
Stat Additions
Mana Increase ............ 16
Stamina Increase ......... 27
Other Attributes
Reflect Physical Damage .. 26
Hit Chance Increase ...... 36
Defense Chance Increase .. 13
Faster Casting ............ 3
Faster Casting Recovery ... 3
Night Sight

And I just followed the steps listed above.

Ummm.... Is this a good suit for a necro warrior?

65/60/70/54/66

Hit Chance Increase - 36%
Defense Cance Increase - 29%
Mana Regeneration - 4
Mana Increase - 18
Mana Leech - 50% (dunno with wraith form)
Lower Mana Cost - 4%
Faster Casting - 1
Damage Increase - 35
Hit Point Regeneration - 1
Night Sight.

Resists are ok
HCI/DCI are good

Mods are pretty bad :/ Need some more MR or LMC.

My necrosuit looks like this:

10 DCI
36 HCI
7 LMC
2FCR
74/93/69/68/92
2MR
5HP Inc
31% RPD

I obviously skipped the useless mods that don't come into play...

LMC/Manaregen is crucial unless you rely heavily on weapons over spells (I.E. a necro that just blood oaths or strangles to open then dives into dexxering). With protect/reactivearmor/vampiricembrace that i have on 24/7 (the first 2 for pvp reasons, the last for rp reasons) I end up having 70/62/63/62/70 true resists or so.

RPD is where its at for a necrodexer because you can reflect back tonssss of damage. If you have even HALF the max on every piece including shield, thats like 49% RPD right there.

I've even heard of guys that have RPD suits and blood oath with under 10 each resist. They get attacked and the PK kills himself in 2 spells or a few melee hits Very Happy

The RPD is incidental - comes with my gloves, shield and sleeves. I'm still looking for decent gloves with LMC or MR. And a 1/3 ring with DCI to replace my crappy 1/3 with no mods. Physical resist could use some work, but meh.

I've found that, for my needs, my mage/necro suit is perfect:

66/70/70/70/70

Int bonus 14
Mana inc 18
HPI 4
MR 5
LMC 40%
SDI 27% (excellent for necro spells)
FC 2
FCR 6
HCI 8
DCI 12

In a duel, i rarely run out of mana, or even get below 80 for that matter. And the sdi with my necro spells greatly helps (45 dmg pain spikes i've calculated at 120 ss/necro) Not to mention poison strike.

And having 172 mana/154 int while blessed is immense

I also Found out that its most important to have LMC on warriors since it does cost Double the mana to use a special two times in a row(Before 3-4 seconds are up i do not remember)
So i suggest a suit with High LMC High HCI high Mana Inc for warriors.
DCI is a plus but with parry its possible to go around.
This is my suit
63/63/65/70/70
5Mana Regen
40LMC
45HCI
37DCI
36 Mana Increase
8 Stamina increase(Not Nescessary)
15% Reflect Phy
25% Enhance Potions.
This suit is Perfect for a Paladin with parry.

Slightly off topic but I'll jump the bandwagon..

Apparently I've got:
68 physical resist
70 fire resist
70 cold resist
70 poison resist
70 energy resist

2/6 FC/FCR
39% SDI just items(Yeah I know..not much of a pvper)
42% DCI
7 mana regeneration
30% LMC
16 intelligence and 5 mana increase
+some other useless crap

High DCI is neat on a mage for that "I'm untouchable" feeling against monsters or at least the possibility of a few swooshes from the pvp-dexmonkeys. Other then that as much MR, LMC and Mana increase you can get. Of course this all changes if you 're like 99.999% of the mages and yer a tankmage.


I don't think I spent a lot of money on it either...Some of the more mediocre but essential pieces I purchased from Vaen, the rest I acquired through gameplay and at rediculously low prices. Usually it's a good thing to have friends that are upgrading their armour and are 'getting rid' of their old. Don't rush it....It's all quite pointless unless you want to enter the Pvp treadmil anyhow.
