Your Highness Molly Willow,
I find the events of that transpired at the last meeting of the Royal Court of Light most distressing and have spent many hours in reflection, meditation and prayer before coming to a decision.

The Royal Court of Light was established for the betterment and protection of not only Luna but those areas of Malas where light still shines. It is understandable that at times allies and friends are necessary not only for trade but defense as well, and these friends and allies should be accorded the utmost respect and cooperation possible, within limits.

I fully understand the position that you were in, yourself being an officer of the Yew commonwealth and your house being members of that body. The Royal Court of Light has for a long time been friendly with those of Yew, sympathetic with the plight of Yew’s people and supportive in past actions. I feel the actions of Duke Kotare, that evening not only overstepped the bounds of friendship and were inappropriate in the extreme. I know you heard Duke Kotares demand of you, that as an officer of the Yewish Commonwealth you were to place Mr Thrax under arrest for alleged crimes committed in Yew. Perhaps you didn’t here Duke Kotare add that failure by you to do so would result in charges against you. Duke Kotare’s actions and your response appears to those from outside The Royal Court of Light, that The Royal Court of Light is a vassalage court to the Commonwealth and follows the directions of that body and the commands of Duke Kotare.

Mr Thrax was invited as a guest to speak of his ideas before The Royal Court of Light, and by your own word, his safety was assured. In the strictest sense in the word, since no harm befell Mr Thrax, you have expressed that you lived up to your word, however many disagree. Normal codes of hospitality dictate that guests are to be honored and accorded respect, are free to come and go as they wish, without fear of harm, arrest, detainment or deceit, until they leave or have violate the hospitality accorded them. I addition, it is normally considered that by ensuring a speakers safety many of the curtsies accorded to emissaries and ambassadors apply, especially those ensuring freedom from arrest and detainment.

To live by and follow the Virtues, one does not adhere to the strictest definition to justify ones actions, but must apply the Virtues in the spirit they were intended. Each virtue is balanced by the others, to provide not only a code by which the righteous can live, but to prevent extremism.

Since your actions the other eve, not only reflect upon yourself, but each member guild and their representatives , I hereby resign as Co-Chair of The Royal Court of Light, and it is my intention to call for a vote of support or condemnation on the handling of this matter, at the next meeting of The Royal Court of Light.

Before you make such rash moves please agree to meet with me to discuss this rationally. I regret what transpired that evening and can understand your feelings. I will make a public statement of my intentions on the public bulletin boards regarding the proceedings and my motivations of such actions before our meeting. Unfortunately what appeared to happen was not what truly influenced my decision to call for his arrest.

You are correct in your understanding that I did not hear Duke Kotare's threat to me and my guild membership. If I had I would have disassociated myself with the Yew Commonwealth at that very moment and intend to do so now. I am not nor will I ever be a puppet to any government official. I will be sending a letter of explanation to Thrax this very day on my actions of the time.

Please reconsider your decision and we can discuss it at our meeting.
