The ill tasting potion that Minerva had given her had worked. Not even Sywien would have recognized her in her present form. Just in case, Sarah pulled at the edge of the worn hood bringing it lower to cover her face. But after walking the empty city she tosses it off, confident that no one would know her on sight. The cool sea breeze instantly began to soothe her heated brow as it played with her long white locks.

Walking the streets of Nujel’m she spies no one. Not a child, a lord, an old croon, or even a pauper…the richly lined streets were completely deserted. As if a plague had swept through and killed everyone. Cocking her head to the side she listened for any familiar sounds. No tradesmen shouting of their wares, no women hawking their porcelain skinned bodies, no children’s laughter nor baby's cries. Not even any dogs barking or cats mewing….just the dry dessert wind whistling around the corners of the large buildings before sweeping the empty streets of its sand.

“What has become of my Empire? What has Rufus done?” “Where are the only things I now hold dear…”

“Hey! You there! What are you doing?” An angry male voice shouted in her direction. Looking back and flipping the hood up Sarah takes a look behind her and sees the colors of her enemy. Swirling around and taking to her heels, she whistles for her steed. Alaconn, her faithful horse swiftly makes his way to her before turning in beside her, matching her strides he stays close, waiting for her next command. Looking back at her pursuer she knows that she will be overtaken within the next few moments. Turning, she gazes up into the horse’s eye she makes an unspoken connection with the beast. With elven grace and quickness she reaches up and grabs Alaconn’s wind swept mane in her fist as she jumps then kicks off the ground to swing her long slender legs upwards only to split the two apart so she becomes straddled upon the massive back. Leaning low into his neck Sarah whispers “Ave Alaconn rima, var eren’rai!”

Only at the edge of the jungle that lies beyond the back of the shops that line the outer streets of Nujel’m does she rein in the steed to an abrupt halt. Turning back she sees the guard and now others still giving chase. Spurring Alaconn’s sides with her heels she has the magnificent mammal stand at his full height. Prancing on his hind legs she takes off her cloak and tosses to the ground revealing her Empiric colors to her enemy. Giving out a long and shrill yell much like the elfdom war cry of lore, she urges her faithful horse back down onto all fours and gallops off to the moongate.

Entering the shimmering portal she first goes to Caina, then to the Shrine of Chaos and finally to the gate of Yew. Disappearing into the lush forest she leaves no trace and seeks out her kindred.
