The fierce storm rained down upon the robed figure as it stood on the edge of the outskirt town. Many of the buildings were still in wear and tear since his last being here, one would think through the years the place would be looking a bit more lived in. Reaching up with a gloved hand the robed figure picked a pear from the tree bringing down sniffing its freshness.
It had been mere hours from his parting with the Druidess, Maelwyn, which inspired him to return to his village to continue his absent training. The land itself seems to be vibrant within the ruined city. Idly the man placed the peer within a pouch on his belt before taking further steps towards the town, the dark royal leggings kicking up water from a puddle, the creak of his wet armor easily heard in the silence of the area.
"Halt!" the voice sounding gutteral coming from around the corner of a wooden wall. "Identify yourself and and what your business is here?" The one speaking steps out of the shadows, clad in light leather and metal studded armor, its lean and leathe muscular look gives them a full animalisc appearance. The man's hair flowing down its sides in tresses like fur but with two braids one down each side of his angular face.
The robed figure brought a gloved hand up sliding the hood from its head and gave a low nod before speaking in the soft yet animalisc tones of the meer "I come by the grace of the winds and ancestors, brave warrior, and seek confrence with your Eternal."
"A human savage enters our land demanding to see an eternal? we do not cater to savages nor spies!" If it were for not the young warriors tone giving hint to the attack, the dark paladin would not have expected such an incursion. The Meer dived low bringing a clenched fist up into the man's breast plate cracking its base and sending the paladin backwards a step. The blow would have been worse if he had not been half prepared.
In a brief instant Arakad reached up quickly pulling off the battle axe from his back harness, bringing the bunt of the shaft up into the meer's chin but just before the double attack with the blade could kick in, what looked to be a wall of energy appeared between the two, the crackling from the white magic arching off the metal axe.
"Enough!" a voice rang out from the winds around the two dueling figures. Stepping ut from glowing energy, the wall begins to dispel, leaving in its place an elderly figure, balding unlike the fur covered Meer warrior Arakad had been up against just moments before. The man stood tall and proud, wearing elaborate flashing silk and embroidered gold robe.
Arakad gave a low bow to the sorcerer, the eternal, a man who bows only to those he respects. The dark paladin spoke in the same rough language as before "Venerable Master, it is an honor to be in your presence once again."
The Meer Eternal raised a hand to the warrior as the old man looked over the young ones broken jaw "I see you have taken up the Human's way of the weapon than our old traditions, haven't you.. young Arakad". With a wave of the same held out hand, the jaw of the warrior reset itself healing over with a dove white light.
What would almsot account for a grin crossed the paladins face as he regained his upright stance "That is true, Venerable Master, but in my defence I have had to adapt to many things. The world is not as closed off as it once was in your time."
"Arrogant Fool! Speak respect before the Eternal!" The warrior spouted out with his newly healed jaw.
"That is true Rhysus" the old sorcerer spoke "Arakad is arrogant... but far from a fool, return to your patrol warrior, and keep a mind on that jaw of yours.
The dark paladin gave a bit of a wink to the warrior as Arakad came up to the eternals side, the old man giving Arakad a bit of a tap on the arm as he turns to walk off down the cobblestone path "Much has changed among the clans, and many of the young have abandoned "The Way" with the rising darkness in the lands. Your return may beckon a new chapter in this era, young paladin... come lets go discuss what exactly it is that brings you here over tea...oh and Arakad, Welcome Home." |
