It has now been three complete weeks since I have began my search for clues as to finding Heartwood, the Elven Kingdom. The search caravans and expedition teams have now all been dispatched, some two or three times, from Skara Brae. Things seemed hopeless, however today I made a miraculous find. After reading tomes, repeatedly, over and over again, I apparently have gotten more adept with my skills as a scribe.

In one of the ancient tomes there is maps of the Ilshenar facet, in which the borders of the pages all contain small glyphs. Twas difficult and required me to resort to the libraries of the Lycaeum, but I did translate and figure out what they meant and they all pointed to something of great importance laying within a Pyramid. I thought to myself, the only pyramid I know of is the one within the deserts of malas. How is it possible, the elves knew of this pyramid when there exodus from these planes occured before Malas was discovered. Perhaps they were ahead of the rest of society in the uncovering of other facets and planes.

I journeyed to the pyramid, only finding entrance through the top reach of the point, a small gap lied amongst the crumblings on the outer walls. I crawled through whispering "In Lor" to illuminate the darkscape that was deep below the sunlight. I fear I have been in the sun far to long, because even after blinking numerous times, my elven vision could not seem to penetrate the darkness that occupied that dank place. I quickly refered to my spelbooks and memorized the invisibility spells just in case there was something that lied below the surface that was beyond my powers, however I havent encountered anything outside of Dungeon Doom itself that could remotely match my magical prowess of late.

After about three hours of aimless wandering, stopping many times to admire the aesthetics of wall carvings that once were very pronounced but now shamefully eroded, I encountered what I calculated to be about three floors below the surface. I could smell undead before I even completely slipped into the crevice in the floor where a starcase once stood. Catching a stable foothold, I once again illuminated the scenery, I dont know if it seemed the other wore off, or perhaps it was so dark and foul, I was simply trying to enhance the current spell. I indeed was right and encountered a multitude of mummies, bats and all sorts of minions of the undead. I tapped into the arcane planes, and let the higher powers take over from there as I began vibrating the floors and crumbling the walls causing everything to fall helplessly where it stood. I still cannot figure out exactly what happens when I cast such high potency spells, its almost as if my body is inhabited by another, controlling my chants and castings. That is beside the point and something that perhaps can be answered at a later time.

Time grows short and I must see Summer tonight to show her my new find so I will end this briefly. Within the bottom floor dwelled a Ancient Sphynx. None like the fortune tellers of the outsides, but a very ferocious one. I was able to calm it with multiple paralysis spells and weakening its strength and desire to fight. Ultimately it calmed to the point it even bowed and spoke telling me off his existence there. He told me much of the previous existence of the elves tht once inhabited. he told me of great crafters and beautiful artifacts. He even said they had darker blue skin, that through centuries of magicks and living amongst nature there skintones had began to slowly fade to whiter and bluer tones.

In the end all he could illude to was that Illshenar is wher my next clue lied, and he gave me a staff. It is like the glaciel staves that I used to find within the ice dungeon that were all relatively weak, but he claimed this one was imbued with properties to open the "lock" when I find it. he said if I made it this far, then indeed I would find this "lock".

I must depart to see Lady Summer, but I will be leaving tomorrow with the caravans to begin thoroughly exploring Illshenar. I already ordered the return of most of them and sent pigeons to reroute those too far out, to simply head to certain shrines. Hopefully no others have gotten here before me, I deeply want the credit of finding our homeland, and too be the one rewarded by my brethren for completeing such a great deed.
