Once again it had been a long journey for Smiticles. Ever the adventurer, he had spent countless hours in the mountains Northwest of Vesper. This particular journey found him in the strange, abandoned prison now over run by the Juka. The locals, he believed, referred to the prison as Dungeon Wrong.
It was here in Wrong where Smitilces was aspiring to perfect his practice in the virtue of Honor. He found that engaging the Juka in honorable combat left him invigorated and at peace amongst his enemy. His studies told him that if he engaged in honorable combat, and progressed in the teachings of this virtue, he would have the ability to walk amongst even the most vile of creatures unmolested. It was for this benefit that he worked has hard and for as long as he did.
The night wore on and it came to a point where, even with his great strength, swinging a sword was becoming a challenge. Fatigue had set in and it was time for bed. Invoking the holy words he enabled the Sacred Journey once more to his home in the Village of Riverrun.
Stepping over his thresehold, he was so tired he simply stripped off his armour and collapsed into bed. His fatigue was so great he noticed not a thing. Smiticles fell soundly asleep.
As the night progressd and sleep took hold his dreams became full of the strangest things. He dreamt of being in the jungle. The dream was so intense that he could hear the faint grunts of the gorillas in the distance. As he dreamt on, the grunts became stronger and closer.
Now dreams do not carry a sense of smell but Smiticles was smelling an odor in his dream. It was a nasty smell, sort of like the smell of wet, sweating leather armor after a hard ride. The smell was so strong that he awoke from his dream.
Sitting up in bed he pondered how bizzare that dream had been. Slowly he noticed the grunts and the smell. I am awake now, What gives?, He said aloud to the empty room. He leaned over and lit some candles.
What he saw gave him a fright at first and then he settled down. His room was full of Gorillas! He stepped out of bed and grabbed the candelabra. It would provde enough light and would serve as a suitable weapon until he could reach his footlocker and grab a weapon. As he slowly stepped around the gorillas they seemed unusually tame and docile. Smiticles decided to check the whole house.
The roof top garden was full of gorillas! The foyer downstairs...full of gorillas! The whole house was full of Gorillas!
Doubling over in laughter he realized that he was the victim of a spectacular practical joke. Knowing his guild and the little village of Riverrun had only one tamer he ran over to window, stuck out his head and yelled into the night air...CLAUDETTE! |

Claudette returned home exhausted from her adventure with her good friend Nicodemus. They had been out fighting solens and she had been practicing some new spells she'd been studying. They wandered around a bit and ended up amongst a whole bunch of gorillas. Always interested in taming new creatures, Claudette started coaxing one of them and was surprised at how easily it trusted her. It didn't take too long before she had a nice bunch of gorillas following her. Uncertain as to what to do with them, she remembered that her guildmate Smiticles had asked her to bring one back for him if she ever encountered one.
Looking at all the gorillas, Claudette's mischievous side took over and she decided to bring them all back home and leave them in Smiticles' house. She knew he wouldn't be too upset and that he'd probably find it rather funny.
She enlisted Nicodemus's help and together they brought back seven gorillas that were then released in Smiticles' home. They soon took over the entire house.
Claudette went to bed that night feeling giddy and wondering what Smiticles would do to her. It took her a while to fall asleep since she could hear all the gorillas next door but as she drifted off to sleep, she vaguely remembers hearing someone yell her name in the middle of the night. |
