The afternoon was hot and humid in the forest south of Minoc. His friend MhicGuille Moire, one of the finest carpenters he knew, had asked Smiticles to help him chop lumber. Thinking the labor would do him some good he happily agreed to help. Stripping off his armor and wearing only a pair of breeches, some sturdy boots and gloves and hefting an axe he walked off into the woods.

The day had drawn to a close and, having harvested a great deal of lumber, Smiticles headed home. Upon arriving there he found two notes sitting on the stoop awaiting his arrival. Excitment coursed through his veins when he saw the hand of Mallory. The second note was from Claudette, but she would have to wait. Mallory's note would be read first. He longed to see her and hold her in his arms. He had never gone so far but to hold her hand but the thought of holding her close to him, tight and secure, gave him great comfort. He wondered...Would she let me kiss her, hold her and wrap her in my arm ever so slightly. With a mischevous grin he sighed heavily and wiped the thought from his mind. He was already hot enough from the wood chopping and he didn't need to get any more worked up. He folded the letter, tucked it away in a safe place and proceeded to read Claudette's correspondence. It was a simple note setting the time and place for their quest to cure Brianha. Well its about time we started moving on this. I was going to get impatient with all the inaction., he mutterred.

He needed to write them both back. Of course Mallory was still at the apex of his thoughts so he started with her.

My darling Mallory.

You find me well and in better spirits as each day passes. I pray you are in good spirits and health as well. I do realize it has been only a few days since we last saw each other but to me it feels like an eternity. Your beauty and spirit can bring sunshine to the darkest points of the earth. Your warmth fills me with such resolve that I am but a simple servant to the power of your presence. I long for your company and the touch of your hand like the hummingbird longs for the nectar of the flower blossom.

I want you to know I will be out and about this evening and I may make a trip to the Freehold. If you are there I beg you to seek me out. If not then I guess I will have to suffer your absence another night. Fear not for we shall be together soon either way. I am writing to Claudette shortly to let her know that I will be partaking in the quest for this crystal.

For now, be well and think of me.

Yours
Smiticles

With the more important of the two replies complete he penned and simple note to Claudette.

Claud, I'm ready and will be there. Count me in on the quest.

Smit.

He walked across the yard and stuck the note to her message board. He then walked north a bit into the forest to find his gypsy friends for yet another delivery to his love.
