Alessandra sat at her desk and pulled out a piece of parchment. She had resolved to attend the next Regency meeting and present to them the request for use of the Britain fairgrounds. She had one final letter to write, having already spoken to Mallory, Mave and Vaen. This was a most akward letter to write, but it had to be done.
Dear Drayden,
I hope that this letter finds you well and in good spirits. It has been a while since we have spoken and I do hope we may remedy that. To be honest, your leaving, although it broke my heart and confused me to no end, was probably one of the best things that happened to me. Please, do not take that wrong, for your leaving indeed left a hole in my heart, but it taught me how to be strong. In fact, I learned much while you were away.
Your return brought joy to my heart, and I am sorry if I have not been able to express it. I am pleased that you also have moved on and appear to be happy as well.
I am writing to request your help with a festival that the Legion is going to hold. I have decided to speak to the regency this Tuesday evening to request the use of the Britain fairgrounds. I would like to ask that you accompany me, if you are not otherwise occupied. Perhaps we can talk after the meeting.
Love*crosses it out* Yours in Justice,
Alessandra
P.S. I am returning to you something of yours that you once gave freely, for you may wish to give it to the one that now owns your heart.
She looked through her jewlery box and plucked from it a delicate ruby ring. She placed it in the letter and sealed the letter with a bit of wax. There was no need to address it, for this was one letter she would deliver herself. She recalled to Drayden's home and the doorman recognizing her opened the door for her. She smiled and placed the letter on Drayden's desk, noticing the pipe and the pile of books scattered around. With tears in her eyes she recalled away to her home and her retreat.
Would she forever be destined to walk this path alone.... _________________ Ken: I don't put anything in my mouth I don't intend on swallowing...

Drayden returned that night to find Raven waiting for him. "Sir, Lady Alessandra came by an' asked ta' give ye this." He handed the envelope to his master. The elf blinked and took it hesitantly. Aless?
"Thank you Raven, go get some rest. It is late enough as it is." With a nod his servant headed off to his own home.
Drayden then made his way upstairs to his study, quite confused as to what Aless might be sending him messages for. There have been far to many women involved in his life and Aless was the one that mattered the most to him. What Claudette could not understand was his past....she didn't know. He sat down, opening the letter and reading it over. The ring dropped into his limp hand which let it fall with a metallic clink on the stone desk.
So this is it, I must make my choice. Someone will be hurt through this. Regardless of what I choose.
He pulled a clean sheet of parchment and began to write
Dearest Alessandra,
It warms my heart to hear from you. Though I cannot say that I have moved on by any means, I have been doing rather well and have had much to keep my mind off of other things. But since things have quieted it has given me much time to think of things both past a present.
Since my departure though, there has been this ache within my very soul. This hole that I cannot seem to ignore. In all truth, I have been dying inside since I have left you and I need to know your love once again. No one shall hold my heart has you have and I am forever yours unless you deem it other wise.
I once gave this ring freely to you before. And now I offer it again. As it can belong to no other.
I eagerly await your response.
Drayden
Drayden sighed softly as he folded and sealed the letter. That had made him tear a bit. It was strange, he wasn't the type to cry. Except when this woman was concerned it stirred so many emotions within him. Murmuring the words "Kal Ort Por" he found himself before Alessandra's home. He left the letter at her door, along with the ring tied with a piece of ribbon to a red rose. |

Alessandra returned from her shopping trip in Luna and was taken aback to find a letter waiting for her. The sight of the ring brought tears to her eyes. She carried the letter inside to her study area and gently untied the rose and ring. She inhaled deeply the aroma of the rose and it brought her back to a time of great happiness.
Drayden had been her first love. They had been introduced by none other than her mother, K-Li and they were instant friends. She remembered the many evenings she and her best friend Fearyl had spent with Drayden and Dialmon. She had gladly accepted the offer to join the Order of the Flame, even though it meant being separated from her dearest friend, Fearyl. It was not long that the friendship between Aless and Drayden grew to much more. As much as they tried to ignore it for the benefit of the Order, the mutual love between them continued to blossom and was soon evident to those around them. Unfortunately they continued to keep it hidden from themselves and each other. It was when Aless was abducted by Alarin and his gang and held against her will that their love for one another became most evident. It was that love that was strong enough to break the invisible bonds that had held her to Alarin. During her recovery, Drayden remained by her side and they professed their love to one another. This was when Drayden had presented her with the ring. It was not large and it was not fancy, but it was from him and with it he gave her his heart. They vowed never to be apart and planned to be wed that following summer. It seems fate laughs when plans are made, for the marriage was never to take place. During this time a terrible sickness overcame many in the Order of the Flame, including Drayden’s best friend and firekin, Dialmon. Dialmon vanished, and Drayden soon followed in search of his beloved friend. It broke Alessandra’s heart to see him go, but knew that he would not rest until he knew the truth.
Time had passed and Alessandra had never forgotten the love that she and Drayden had shared. She had placed the ring in her box with the hope that he would one day return to her. There had been one that had tried to take his place in her heart, but she knew she could never love him the way he wanted and needed, and slowly turned away from him as well. She had found a home within the Legion and while she was rarely seen on the battlefield, she was loyal to her friends. One day while she was in her study the Legion messenger knocked on her door and told her that Vaen was waiting for her at the Stronghold. Confused and wondering what was happening, and hoping she hadn’t once again forgotten an important meeting, she quickly made her way to the Stronghold. When she arrived Vaen was indeed not there and she entered the meeting area only to find her past standing there waiting for her. The time that had passed melted away and Alessandra’s heart leapt for joy, for standing there in the Legion green was her beloved Drayden. How often she had dreamed of this, standing there in front of him, throwing her arms around him and welcoming him home, but something in his eyes kept her from doing that. He seemed so distant and reserved. If only there had been some hint of him loving her she would have been so delighted, but instead it was if he only barely remembered her, and it broke her heart. What had happened to him to make him forget the love they shared? She resolved to bury herself in the work of reestablishing Nujel’m and to bring it to its previous glory.
That had been the end of it, or so she thought. Lately they had been working together on the rebuilding of Nujel’m and the more time she spent with him the more her heart was confused. She still loved him dearly. She was certain she had seen him with a young woman named Claudette, and she looked very happy and very much in love. He had in fact speant much of his time talking about how he was assisting the young lady with her cousins ailment. He seemed to be happy and who was she to destroy that and bring the heartache she had felt to another? She had kept her feelings to herself, drowning herself in her work and politics of the Legion of Justice.
Alessandra looked back to the letter in her hand and once again read it. Could it be true? Did he really still love her after all of these years? Did she dare trust her heart again, knowing full well that it could lead her to pain? She sighed and looked out her window wishing that the answer was as clear as the beautiful summer day. She looked back to the ring and shook her head softly. Did she dare do what was in her heart…?
She pulled out a piece of parchment and a book and began writing…
Dear Drayden,
I love you now as I loved you then and I loved you then as I will love you forever. I will never stop loving you, as long as my heart is beating. You are a part of my heart and a part of my soul. I find myself longing to once again be in your embrace. Without you I feel lost and alone in the world.
When you left to search out Dialmon, I wished that I was able to go with you. When you did not return, neither did that piece of my heart. When I think that your heart belongs to another it breaks my heart, but if that is what is makes you happy I wish that more than anything else.
I ask you to carefully think this over, for it is not an easy decision. I offer you my heart.
Until I hear from you,
Alessandra
She sealed the letter and took the letter to Drayden’s home and left it again with Raven, smiling anticipating the response. _________________ Ken: I don't put anything in my mouth I don't intend on swallowing...
