After having some time to process the potential threat, Claudette sat down and thought about what she needed to do to find out who this person was and what they wanted. Although it scared her to think someone was watching her, she had always been a strong and resourceful woman. She knew she could count on her family and friends. She had mentioned the note to Vaen and he had reassured her that he would be there for her should she need any help. She would also be able to count on her guild. It had been quite some time since she had seen any of them but she knew that upon her asking, they would all assist her with this.
Her first instinct was to find Max, it was still hard for her to believe that he was no longer the guild master and she admitted to herself that she missed him. Perhaps she would write him a letter and attempt reconciliation. She still did not like his involvement with Ceinwyn but Brianha had said her memory loss was due to a simple fall and Claudette could only accept that. Returning to the matter at hand, she took some parchment out of her writing desk and began a letter to Nicodemus.
Dear Nicodemus,
It has been some time since I have seen you. I trust everything is well with you. There are some matters I wish to discuss with you and that the rest of the guild should be made aware of.
I found a note the other night on my bulletin board that read, “I’m watching you..” I do not know whom it is from but I am quite concerned for my safety. I have already told Brianha and Vaen. Melior knows about it as well because he was with me the night I found it. I do not know what we can do to find out who this person is or what he or she may want but I trust that you and the rest of the guild will help me.
There is also another matter we need to speak of. Black Lotus also left a note on my board and he wishes assistance from the guild in finding the royal family. He cannot remember where he left them apparently. I’m quite confused as to how you lose an entire family but since he requires our assistance, I am letting you know.
Please let me know what you wish to do to resolve these issues.
Your friend,
Claudette
Sealing the letter, Claudette spoke the words that brought her to Nico’s house and left it with Victoria, his barmaid. _________________

She heard sounds and movement on the first floor. Then she heard voices talking quitely. Listening from her sanctuary on the second floor she stayed quiet as she could trying not to let the boards creek as she went to the window. She could not see anyone.
She had been staying with Nico the past few nights because of the vampire stalker that had been plaguing her for that many days. She was terrified it might be him. She waited for the sounds to quiet and slipped past the Swamp Dragon that Nico had left to guard her as he went about his daily duties.
As she stepped on the teleporter to go to the first floor she was met by Victoria his barkeep. They both spoke at the same time. Victoria asked her if she was alright and Maggy asked who had been to the house and what HE looked like.
Victoria just laughed and said the he was a she and it was Miss Claudette. She said that Miss Claudette had just came by to leave a letter for Nico and she had nothing to fear. Maggy laughed at herself for being so paranoid and sat with Victoria for a while drinking tea and talking.
She felt more at ease and asked if Victoria thought she would be alright to slip into Vesper and buy some things to cook Nico a nice meal when he came home. She frowned a little but Maggy was insistant on doing so as she felt he had done so much for her and she wanted to do something nice for him. Victoria lent her some clothing to put on. She slipped out of the house dressed in a large floppy hat and robe hoping it would be enough to discise her should she run into the stalker. |
