The night was in full swing by the time he had arrived at his home. The dark elf yawned and paused to look out over the water of his new home, as he had done before at his old tower. But this place was different. He had moved to Legion Island. Which with all the problems lately seemed to be a good idea. His sapphire colored eyes looked to the night sky and he sighed. "What a week," he whispered.

Then something caught his attention out of the corner of his eye. A fleeting shadow? Perhaps it was a night bird...yes, they are around at this hour. With a nod he went to his door. As his fingers brushed the door knob a chill ran up his spine as he heard something he had not heard in what seemed an eternity.

The ghostly sound of a child's laughter.
He is coming...

Drayden spun around, whipping out his longsword eyes darting through the night looking for the source of the voice. "It can't be..." All doubts died when he looked down at the steps where he stood. There beneath his very boots was a crushed vial, out of it seeped some strange liquid. He kneeled touching the liquid and smelled it.

Again the laughter.

His eyes went wide and he felt his heart clench in fear and desperation.
Not again.... With a few uttered words he disappeared from his home to where he knew who else they would come for.....Alessandra.

She walked into the Freehold and looked around. Her eyes immediately noticed Drayden. Although seeing him still ached her heart, time had passed and she had accepted his decision. She had not gotten a reply to her letter and it stung to think that perhaps he did not care to save their friendship.

Claudette sat at one of the tables and was soon joined by Mallory. They exchanged a few friendly words but throughout their conversation, Claudette could not help but notice how much coughing Drayden was doing. She still cared for him and her thoughts immediately turned to his well-being. Glancing over at him she could only see his back as he sat at the bar. Mallory soon excused herself and Claudette sat there by herself. Every time Drayden coughed, she had to fight the urge to run to him and see if he was all right.

She felt someone hugging her from behind and although it made her jump, she was glad to see Melior standing behind her. They did not have much time to talk before they both agreed that Drayden needed help. Watching him stumble about looking quite weak even concerned Melior. “Do you think I should talk to him?” Claudette asked Melior. “Go ahead, it might help,” he had told her.

Drayden sat at one of the tables; he looked pale and seemed very cold. Claudette could see his whole body shivering. She approached cautiously and began talking to him. He seemed scared, lost and confused. As she looked into his eyes, she felt as if she was looking into those of a stranger. The fire that usually resided in them was gone. He soon began to speak of hearing children laughing. “He’s coming.. “ he repeated several times.

With much patience, Claudette tried to get him to tell her what had happened to him. She was confused and could not figure out whom he was talking about. Melior came over sensing her frustration and tried to help as well.

They soon decided it was best to get Drayden to a bed where he could rest. They brought him upstairs to one of the rooms and laid him down. It seemed that no matter how many blankets were on him, he was still shivering. When Claudette touched his forehead, her concern grew, for what she felt shocked her. Drayden was so very cold to her touch.

Claudette again tried to talk to him but he seemed to ramble about different things. “Drayden, please look at me” she pleaded. “How can I help you?” Not even the mention of Alessandra’s name got a reaction. He mentioned Vaen’s name and that he would know what to do. Melior and Claudette looked at each other. She knew that he would look after Drayden while she looked for Vaen.

She checked various places before finding Vaen at the new home he had purchased. She yelled for him and found him upstairs. She noticed he seemed pale and asked him if he was okay. “I’m fine” he insisted, “now tell me what the matter is”. Claudette sat down and told him the story about finding Drayden at the Freehold. “There is something very wrong with him Vaen,” she said with concern. “He asked me to find you and tell you that those who used to be in the Order of the Flame must be guarded,” she said. “He continues to talk about someone coming, but I do not know of whom he speaks.” “He rambles on about being the first ones to again feel HIS pain and suffering.” Vaen looked tired as he told her that he was not sure how much he would be able to help. “Will you at least come to the Freehold with me?” she asked. He nodded and told her he would meet her there. She quickly ran downstairs, hopped up on her horse and made her way back to the Freehold.

As Claudette left the room Drayden started to writhe in the bed restlessly. This wasn't what needed to be done. "Bring Dialmon to me! Have him meet me at the cathedral!" The dark elf was quite delirious. His skin was deathly pale. "I must have the council!" In his mind he was hammered by flash backs of a time before. The time of his Order and fighting an unbeatable evil.

Even now the voices of the children's laughter echoed in his mind. It was all he heard. He saw them now laying in that bed, saw them coming in the door with their black hooded robes. Felt the coldness eminating off of them. So cold. Their lamps seemed to see within his very soul. "Raven Blade! Bring him to me!" He cried. Hoping for anyone that could help him.

They couldn't see what he saw, they we're oblivious. Melior didn't seemed phased as one of the riders walked right by him towards Drayden. White hand outstretched for him. "The Gates! The Gates!" He thrashed in the bed opening a magical gate so he may escape the wrath of the Dark Rider, he had suffered it once. Not again! Everything went black.

Drayden stood at the Freehold. Out front before Melior, with his longsword in hand. "Calm down! But the blade down Drayden." Melior told him. Not knowing why he was holding a blade at a possible friend in the first place the Dark Elf complied, lowering the sword. Then someone came running out. A face he had not seen in quite some time. It was his old Librarian, Raven Blade, from the Order.

He still felt cold and weak, but his mind was somewhat in order. Despite the fact there was this gaping hole in his memory. Like how he got outside or even to the Freehold. Raven shook him roughly, "Are you well old friend?" Drayden blinked and shook his head and was lead upstairs by the others who had come down by now. He sat down for a few moments, "All I can remember is the laughing of children and then they whispered. He is coming." Drayden put a hand to his head, rubbing his temple. Perhaps I will remember more tommorow. He thought to himself.

With that said Raven looked thoroughly puzzled, "This will prove to be something I must study more into. Though it sounds as if the Dark Riders of Freehold have returned." This did nothing but puzzle the others but it caused Drayden's eyes to widen. Melior and Claudette then took their leave, as Melior had to return to his post. Drayden was taken home by Raven Blade, who then stood guard at his door for most of the night. He was shocked however to find several crushed vials of some sort of blood on Drayden's steps...[/b]
