(I still don't have a free email to make him his own account)

Malorn walked slowly down the street under his new guise, his blonde hair tied back tightly and sweeping across his back. A black cloak clung tightly to his neck, a golden chain clasping it. His eyes swept the crowd searching for his mark. Suddenly all his movement stopped and he stood there staring at a robed figure holding a brown staff.

Swiftly darting down the nearest alley, he tucked his hair up and pulled a black hood over his face. Throwing off his tunic, a belt full of instruments of murder became visible. His hand shot down into his boot and grasped a midnight colored dagger. Drawing it up, he reached into his pouch and grasped a flask full of purple liquid with his other hand.

He stood poised in the alley, preparing his attack. The crowd dispersed slowly as night fell and he crept slowly around the wall of the bank. The staff-wielding, robed man stepped proudly down the cobble stone boulevard, heading back to his quarters for the eve. Malorn saw his chance and crept ever closer to the man, moving just quicker than he. The assassin stepped cautiously to make no sound. Moonglow gave host to powerful mages as guards; a force he did not wish to battle.

Malorn crept closer and closer upon his target, eyeing the area he would strike. He held the potion tightly in one hand and his dagger was poised for attack. He threw his arm around the mans face and broke the potion on his mark’s teeth. A silent flame engulfed the man’s head and his mouth became a fleshy, bloody, and empty void. In the same motion he thrust the dagger forward into the back of the man’s lung, rendering him silent. Retracting the dagger he let the man fall.

The hit man hovered over the twitching, groaning man. He knelt down and pulled his dagger slowly across the mans neck and whispered into his ear.

“This is only the beginning.” The hushed tone barely carried to his ear, but Malorn knew his message was passed as the man’s eyes shot open for an instant before closing for eternity. A small smirk crossed the murderer’s lips under his hood before he quietly darted from the corpse, back to the alley.

Quickly, he gathered his tunic and materials and darted out the other side of the alley and hopped the fence. He disappeared silently into the woods, no one the wiser. Most of all the bloody corpse of the mage who would never again sell his goods… or protect his family.

The Morning After…

A cool breeze blew over Moonglow as the sun crept over the trees. The smell of sulfur and burning flesh filled the town square. A large gander of ravens had gathered around and had been given suspicious looks by the towns folk.

“The guards must have gotten some animal that wandered to close, and not had the right mind to clean it up.” One on-looker said, quite certain her assumption was correct. “Nothing else would cause those wretched birds to pile up like that.” Her dress flowed in the wind as she waved her rolling pin about the gathering of birds in an attempt to dispatch them.

To what would soon be her dismay, she succeeded. The birds flew off hastily and perched on a near building, leaving the true nature of their meal visible. The woman shrieked in horror and her eyes shot open as the smell of burnt flesh and hair poured over her. She stood there trembling, her rolling pin hitting the ground next to her. A man rushed to her aid and dragged her away, all the while she was yelping like a cornered dog, struck by its capturer.

The man’s face was unrecognizable, and his death was undoubtedly murder. Throughout the crowd gasps and idle chat could be heard. Everyone was discussing what had just happened. No one felt safe. Malorn stood amongst them with a look of false terror that was easily overtaken by contempt and pity. He couldn’t help but smirk as they all bantered on about the guards, and protection, and this, and that. There was nothing they could do, and he knew it.

The unknown murderer turned swiftly, his cloak sweeping the ground in its motion. He walked swiftly towards the moongate.

They’re all as good as dead.

Stepping into the large, blue dimentional doorway, he left the cries and terrified chatter of the towns people behind.
