Kuja sat at his desk with a look of madness in his eyes as he looked at the one thing that tourmented his mind for the past few weeks. A book he had found in the restricted area of the scholomance, which Alarin warned him not to take seriously.

Three weeks earlier, Kuja had found the book, in a place where had to have looked several times before. It looked ancient, and its scent screamed of old magics and untold power. He had taken it back to Exoniur to study.

The pages were blank, yet they were not. The book tortured his very soul, or what was left of it. He had locked himself in Exoniur for some time now, refusing all food and drink his servant had brought him. Magically extended life or not, Kuja needed sustenance like any human, even one as twisted, and now as mad as Kuja.

The pages were blank, yet Kuja read it like a book. It had connected with his soul, and the evil of the book, as well as the corruption of his soul, had led his mind to refuse reason.

Sense took over, and Kuja looked for an instrument to relieve himself of the pain his soul and mind and body was filled with. But he could not pry himself from the book.

Then, finally, the last page. A magical incantation appeared in plain words on the page.

Kuja twitched and muttered the incantation. A large explosion of magical force ensued, killing his already dead servant, and leaving a large crumbling hole in the floor of his private room.

No trace of Kuja was ever found. The book was gone. Wise minds knew that Kuja was not dead, but he was not seen again.
