-One night ago-
“So many things happening all at once” Isk spoke to himself as he went through the various plots, dealings and personal achievements in his mind. The successful dealing with Horace formulated the first true alliance Humanis has had in years though Drake was instrumental in convincing Mark Randerstill of the benefits that come with having allies. Politically things were progressing well.
Stacks of the Voice lie ready for shipping as he left a note on the top crate to have them distributed on the following night. Knowing that the Magincia Press was still busy printing out the last batch he left his docked ship and proceeded down to the central avenue of Magincia with a copy of his first book in his Minoc War saga at hand. His thoughts went to the hunt he shared with those he had forged ties to in Spiritwood as well as fragments of the Sosarian Knights just a day before. It became evident that his reputation as a man of ‘evil’ was quickly being superseded. “Good” Isk said to himself out of the blue only to gain a bow from a man walking the street opposite him as if in response to gaining approval.
-years ago-
Two shadows danced like spectres over the child who lay upon the soil of the forest without even a blanket for protection.
“It’s a baby” her voice was like a melody as she stepped forward from between two trees, the rays of the moon crowning her accented features as she picked up the child with curious hands.
“A baby?” The other voice rang out from behind a tree, her head poking out from the side after moment.
“His parents must have thrown him away” the first voice responded and chuckled mockingly at the infant.
-Tonight-
“Auris and Athlon” Isk focussed his glazed eyes at the two newborns playing the visions and images he was shown of them by gypsy crystals and Arella’s monthly vigils over in his mind.
“It may be that you will need a mask, little Auris” he brushed his right hand over the infant’s face as it lay there in silent sleep beside its brother and sister.
Having been long worried that his blood would be lost to history Isk took a relaxed breath knowing that three of his offspring will continue his lineage...at least three.
Feeling the cool tiles of the floor below him as he crouched at the side of the bed the Humanis magnate cast a glimpse at his wife as she lay asleep resting from the strains of labour which had griped her body just hours earlier. They had picked the names together making each one suit the children both of which they thought would be destined for greatness. Auris for gold and Athlon the prize, both of them treasures.
Throughout it all a lingering prophecy resinated within his skull ‘You will know the Philosophe’ the crystal ball had said to him last year. It may have been pride or conceit in himself when seeing the twins as he whispered to the silent room “Perhaps I know you now”
