The morning dawned crisp and new before her she looked at it with dead eyes. Lifting her quill she dipped it slowly in the ink and held it dripping over the piece of parchment.
Pressing it down against the splattered paper she hastily scrawled out a letter.

Dearest Toren,

I have come to find that I have fallen in love with you. This sadly sickens me, as I believe love a weak and vulnerable emotion. I am sure you will agree. Hence it has become necessary to distance myself from you and of course the Cabal. I hope your plans for Armageddon come to fruition. I wish you the best in future endeavors. There is a piece of me that will always love you but to be the person I am there is no room for love.
Sincerely,
Nightshade

Closing her eyes tears of blood rolled down her cheeks and her hand shook violently. The mark on her hand burnt like fire and she shrieked as if she had just been burnt again. Gritting her teeth she shook herself angrily and said out loud to the silent room. See this is exactly why you are leaving. Realizing that she had somehow changed she shuddered convulsively and rose from her chair. Folding the note in an envelope and placing it upon the floor of the entry hall in his house she stepped outside the doors. Giving the house a final look she committed it to memory. Closing the door with a soft click behind her she stepped into the glowing portal she conjured. She began her long walk down the path which would lead to the Shrine of Chaos.

When she at last reached the shrine she fell wearily to floor before the idol. Her feet were badly cut due to lack of shoes but she cared not. Sobbing she bent her head as a great spectral image rose before her. A deep voice resounded in her head. Aaah my wayward slave has returned to me. You will be punished for your abandonment slave.

Sobbing Nightshade nodded her head wordlessly in response. Then with a weak shaky voice she begged, Release me from this vile thing called love and harden me to its snare once more.

Her hand was burning the mark glowing upon it. With dark magic in its wake the mark grew slowly consuming her entire arm it spread across her body as a chain and pulled her upright like a marionette doll. She stood there slightly suspended her feet barely touching the floor. The specter flew before her and nodded appreciatively. At last you heed my calls and obey my commands for this I will grant your plea. A bright energy encircled her and she started to feel a coldness fill her from the inside out. Slowly her movements stilled and her face relaxed a peaceful sleepiness overwhelming her and she felt nothing just a blissful calming force. Ice began to form over her but she remained unafraid. Her eyes had grown heavy and she gave in to the nothingness with relish. The specter vanished leaving behind his beautiful ice carving. The halls of the shrine silent, the ice impervious to the rays of the heated sun, stood holding the sleeping girl till next her master summoned her.
