Sinking his sword into the soft snow around him, Steel unwrapped his cloak from around his body. The cold air blew against his bare hand and face, snow falling around him, slowly covering him in white. Slowly he turned his head to look at his left arm. It hung limp from his shoulder, unable to move, unable to function in any way. He sighed, and looked back up at the building before him. Dark-colored stone stacked to form a massive stronghold, fierce-looking in the eternal blizzard around it.
Exoniur.
Slowly he began to walk toward the towering structure, careful with each step. He knew the treacherous kind that had once dwelled here, and was not about to take any more chances on his life.
As he reached the front door to his new home, he looked around the area, scoping out his surroundings. Almost every building nearby was in ruins, with a couple here or there still in almost full structure... only one seemed to be fully intact: the old Temple.
He smiled to himself, thinking of what he held in the palm of his hand. The ruins of Caina... he thought. My, my, what they have let slip. His thoughts slowly trailed to the great depths of the earth beneath him. Miles below the surface, the ruins of the ancient city of Stygia still breathed with mystery, few knowing the secrets locked within the city.
His smile turned to a fierce grin as he turned back to his new home. "Upon these ruins..." he whispered. "Yes, upon these ruins... I will start anew. Upon these ruins I will build the stronghold I was destined to create..." _________________ |

Moments later...
The stranger moved onward, following the humanoid tracks within the snow. For some reason, he was "compelled" to do so. Looking up from his hood, he...
..."it"...
...saw a structure ahead. The snowfall was dense in the area, but for some reason this did not stop the creature from guidiing itself through. It was being controlled, and it sensed a desire somewhere close. As the stranger moved into, it too found the very door from which Steel had entered. Sensing a presence, the stranger looked up once more with its bright cold searing sight, and moved in.
From there it found the steps that descended into the earth, and within those steps it could feel something. The stranger moved its hand to its sheath strapped on its back, and withdrew a red blade. Holding it out to its side, the creature descended down the steps...
"Time for a new host...", echoed the only thought within the being. |
