Introduction
Greetings and welcome
You are invited to join us & come share our wonderous world in The Kingdom of Stormhaven.
Please yourself to wander our quiet roads and search our shops for wares. Come let the beauty, serenity & brotherhood of The Kingdom of Stormhaven touch your heart.
Stormhaven may appear large but she has never lost her quaintness. Guests and visitors are greeted with a gracious welcome and offered protection while within her boundaries.
Stormhaven is located in Trammel SW of Britain on the Atlantic Shard (see map below) and was founded by "The Stormguards". When the Trammel faucet doorway was first opened plans were laid to build Stormhaven. On July 21, 2000 Stormguard members placed 5 homes together & so began Stormhaven. Others began joining within days and in September of 2000 the Stormhaven sky page was officially opened.
Stormhaven hosts and sponsors "The Tournament of Champions", home to the Stormhaven Merchant Association, holds festivals & other events as well as boasts of our prime location near the City of Britain and her Fair Grounds. The kingdom's shady forests, majestic mountains and beautiful water access abound with animal life. The Britain moongate lies within our boundaries for easy travel across the land & to both facets.
Our High Council works hard to make Stormhaven a place worthy of it's residents and visitors with a message board and event calendar to keep everyone informed as well as a news page, but its best feature by far is the peace, beauty and tranquility you'll find there.
Our resident shop's offer all manner of wares at some of the best prices in the land. A list of all our shops & homes, the wares they sell and where they are located in our kingdom can be found on the map below for your convenience.
For information regarding our monthly held shard wide tournament event follow the Tournament of Champions.
We warmly invite you to come visit us in Stormhaven.
Stormguards
I do give my fealty to the Crown of Stormhaven.
I take oath to protect & defend the Kingdom of Stormhaven, my fellow Stormguards and our Codes.
I will Hold Honor High in all things for,
With Honor we are Rich, with Honor we are Strong, with Honor we are One!
So swear I.
So reads the sworn oath of a Stormguard of Stormhaven.
The Stormguards of Stormhaven are Knights of Honor. We live by a Code of Chivalry & Honor and vow to Hold Honor High in all things. We strive to better ourselves and our world by seeking enlightenment upon the paths of virtue & light. We are Knights bound by our vows to bring honor and peace to the kingdom and dedicated to our cause we will see it carried out through service, deed, and example.
The Stormguards are based in The Kingdom of Stormhaven (Trammel) and extend their duties into Felucca where they are based at the Wayside Pub, a Stormhaven outpost. We consist of Lord & Lady Knights who war against the dark storms of evil in our lands.
The StormGuards have duties which include patrolling Stormhaven, aiding allies (Trammel & Felucca), quests, High Council assignments, aid with management of Tournaments and other events.
The "StormKnights" are the Knighted members who have proven themselves in skills, prowess and chivalry and now devote their life to fight evil and injustice in the name of Honor and the Kingdom. "Knighthood" is earned by those members who follow our Code of Chivalry and seek to RP the lifestyle of the true Knights of old. Requirements to join the S*G are 3x GM level and knowing and following the PVP Rules of Engagement (see link at top of this page).
The Stormguards had their beginnings on Catskills in 1998 before moving & being reborn on the Atlantic shard in June of 2000 where they still live by the same motto & creed dedicated to honor and their family like fellowship. If you're interested in learning more please continue to tour our website. If you are interested in joining then please follow the "JOIN" link on the left menu or at the top of this page. Safe journeys to all.

Roleplaying
The Kingdom of Stormhaven is a roleplaying community. It's structure is set up so that all members should have the opportunity to roleplay almost any class or type of character they wish from the heroic knight to a kingdom outlaw. The depth and level that you chose to roleplay your character is up to you. Whether you have a historical background laid out for your character or personality traits or just play yourself within a medieval era, there are some rules all members need to respect and follow.
Learning and following the rules on this page are required for continued membership within the Kingdom of Stormhaven.
1. The Citadel of Stormhaven is the Hub or Main location for roleplay (RP) and storylines (acted out planned adventures and tales) for the kingdom . While at the Citadel you should stay 'in character' (IC) as much as possible. If you need to speak 'out of character' (OOC) please use the party system (PS), ICQ's (Pigeons), move to an empty area or room, or leave the citadel to do so.
2. Publicly your RP should continue as much as possible. This means in town at the bank, at player run establishments or other locations in the game. As a RP guild we promote RP by example which extends to all aspects of the game.
3. RP has priority. Never disrupt nor interfere RP with OOC. Never ruin another players RP or fun. Either join in, listen quietly, or leave.
4. When entering a location PLEASE take just one minute to stop and listen to current conversation and find out before speaking if your interrupting, disrupting or would be adding to what is currently taking place there. A current storyline could be going on and interrupting with your own at that point could confuse both storylines and RP'ers involved.
5. How do you get involved? How do you get started? How to do you find out what and where current storylines are headed?
A. Read the Message Board! Many storylines are written up on the message board as an introduction, to give details unable to be acted out in the game, to update other RP'ers and to offer opportunities for others to join in.
B. Read the Storm Council Message Board! The Storm Board is used to discuss current storylines, give a behind the scenes look at a storyline and the opportunity to discuss, suggest and even create the events within the storyline as well as enlist members to participate.
C. Ask your fellow members! If you are witness to a scene that just unfolded, afterwards ask questions IC about it to those present or use PS or Pigeons to find out.
6. Ignore anyone deliberately attempting to disrupt just to cause grief. The ignore option on your options menu works great!
7. Never use RP in a manner that would harm, embarrass or bring grief to other players. Do not attempt to force others to join in who do not wish to. It is highly advisable to gain a few players before hand who agree to interaction with you in a storyline and use the Message Boards to introduce it. This gives you a clue who wishes to participate and who doesn't as well as whether your storyline is timed well with current events and will be well received.
8. Remember whether a good character or evil character we are all friends in truth roleplaying for fun and enjoyment. Do not take the RP personally!
The Kingdom of Stormhaven and the Stormguards are members of the Atlantic Consensus. This is a group of other guilds, towns and players who are dedicated to Roleplaying. We abide by the rules created by agreed to by the Consensus members. To learn more you can find the link on our Allies page to the Consensus website.
Per the Atlantic Consensus website:
1. Never ruin the fun and/or play of another individual.
2. Role Play. This means stay in character at all times.
3. Maintain your guild initials at all times.
4. Always show respect to fellow members, situations often arise where tempers flare but disrespect to other members will not be tolerated.
Rules for RP & PVP
The Stormguards follow set rules in RP PVP (Roleplay Player versus Player) wars which have been agreed upon by the Atlantic Consensus. Additionally we may have a few of our own to ensure happy and fun game play involving PVP engagement.
ALL MEMBERS OF THE S*G STONE ARE EXPECTED TO KNOW THESE RULES.
THERE ARE NO EXCUSES ACCEPTABLE FOR NOT KNOWING THEM.
IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THEM YOU DO NOT BELONG ON THE S*G STONE.
RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
1. No Ganking.
2. No LOOTING.
3. No attacking in town or at a players home. This means no camping!
4. Never begin a duel, battle or other fight without prior agreement on both sides that the engagement is acceptable.
5. When you are dead, you are DEAD. Get rezzed, gather things from your body then back away from battle area. Stay in your death robe. Battles are to be realistic as possible in that one side actually wins when all members of the other side have died or retreated.
6. Do not attack anyone in death robes.
7. If the battle is to be a long one and made up of multiple waves of attack, upon death return to the designated regrouping area and await for the current wave to end. An appropriate amount of time should follow for everyone to regroup and clearly show the first wave has ended before another attack is to begin.
8. No foul language. No 'dewdish' behavior or speech. The Stormguards RP Knights of Honor. Act like it. RP your character during these events or stand back quietly and watch. Disrupting those interacting is not acceptable. If you must speak OOC do it in party, ICQ or step away from the RP area.
9. Personal vendettas, RL anger or negative non RP behavior will not be acceptable. This is for fun and enjoyment.
10. If there is a problem report it to your superior or GM. Do not take it into your own hands which could further negative interaction and feelings. Walk away! Get a name. Taking pictures and/or logs are very effective and helpful. Problem players will be dealt with.
11. Never give a murder count to an enemy who is a member of the agreed RP PvP battles.
12. Do not ban anyone from guild homes during RP events who are members of those guilds participating in the event. This means even the bad guys!
13. Rule of wisdom: If you have any items you don't want to loose, don't bring them. There may be griefers and players outside the events who are there only to disrupt and steal and loot.
There is a purpose for these rules, they work!
PENALTIES FOR VIOLATING RULES
Anyone found violating any of the above rules will IMMEDIATELY be removed from the S*G stone and placed on the SHS stone for a minimum of 1 week or longer depending upon the severity of the violation and how that member amends the situation. Repeated offenses and extreme violations will result in Banishment from the Order without recourse.
Any questions regarding the above rules should be directed to your superior officer before engaging in any activities.

Ranking and Quests
To advance in rank you must meet requirements which include quests, tournament experience, duel and/or battle experience, but most of all the desire for adventure.
Questing
To begin a quest a member must post on the Kingdom IC message board when he plans to go, to where he is questing and who is questing with him. This is also a good way to invite others to join you on your quest. Upon completion of the quest the member is expected to post about his adventure. This may be brief for some and/or a complete tale for those authors out there. *smiles* The posts will stand as a record of your quests and achievements as well as aid in tracking individual's ranks. Quests require a witness. One friend or a group may accompany you, even another member who is questing for the same rank. You may not recall nor gate to your destination. You must walk, ride or use a boat.
Tournaments will count whether Stormhaven hosted tournaments or those hosted by other guilds. Duels and/or Battles will mostly apply to Stormguard members of the S*G war stone. The S*G will still be subject to the discretion of S*G officers and Prince Talon for advancement. Titles for the Stormguards are also at the discretion of Prince Talon.
All advancements in ranks will be announced at the kingdom meetings on Monday nights by Grand Viceroy High Priest and Stormguard Captain, Father Cyrus the Holy or High Lady of the Queen's Guard, Alyria Sylverton. Even if you've posted on the message board, if you can't make the Monday night meeting it is important you let the appropriate officer know so your promotion can still be announced and your title changed on the stone.
From Storm Paige to Knight will require quests to the Shrines of Virtue and tournament experience and/or duel/battle experience. After Knighthood you will quest to Dungeons and further. Also a certain amount of tournaments, duels and/or battles will be required to finally achieve the highest rank of "Legend". Additionally at times you may find your quests may involve certain challenges or obstacles to be completed. These may originate from within the kingdom or possibly even from outside kingdom participants.
Once you reach Knighthood you will be required to seek a personal Squire from within or by recruiting from without the kingdom. Likewise Squires should seek a Knight to be their mentor. As a "Legend" you should give time to aiding those still striving to achieve this level. You may chose to aid in training or quests. You can even create some of the challenges and/or tests for others questing.
Now to the ranking and quests:

It will not be easy to achieve Knight of Legend nor quickly achieved. I can only say ask yourself this, "Did you come here to just gain a title or to live an adventure?"
And so the adventure begins...

Knighthood
To be a Knight is more than just a title. It is a privilege and an honor that one earns and struggles toward. It is more than being master of the skills of battle or reciting words that sound noble and honorable. It is a way of life. The charges a knight accepts, the oath he swears and the code of chivalry he lives by should be apparent in all he does.
The gold ring a Stormguard wears and the emblem * is our order's symbol of knighthood and it represents all the ideals of knighthood. What is a knight but those ideals come to life. To live by such standards is difficult you think? You are right and 'tis why only the most disciplined and dedicated in both heart and mind achieve knighthood in the Stormguards. To be a knight in the the Order of the Knights of Stormhaven means your oath, code, and all the ideals are who you are in body, mind, and spirit.
To be an example shows what another cannot see, explains when there are no words, touches what one cannot reach, and inspires where there is no dream. May your example bless the lives of many.

The Page and Squire
A Knight begins his training early as a Page. He advances to a Squire and in time after growing in skill, honor, prowess and chivalry the long sought day of Knighthood arrives. He will take anew vows of fealty to his liege Lady & Lord and his order to be a champion of right and hold to his Code of Chivalry.
The path to knighthood was one that took years. He begun by being taught his letters from an age of four to six. Then often a nobleman's son was sent to another's household for his next stage of training where he would be under the authority of the Hold's Ladyship and serve as page to the household. As a page at age ten to twelve he would run errands, serve and carve at the table, learn proper manners, speech and bearing for a nobleman as well as how to sing and dance and the appropriate manner toward a Lady.
Between the age of twelve and fourteen he would begin to learn the ways of the hunt. He would be taught the use of hunting weapons, tracking, staulking, strategies of the hunt, survival skills and the proper care for his weapons along with other valuable skills. He would draw blood, dare to make his first kill, learn courage before the great beasts of the wild and begin to gain in stature and strength.
Advancing to Squire around the age of sixteen he would begin to train in earnest with weapons of war, how to ride and the value of his steed. He would learn care for armor and weapons. He would begin studies of battle and war, and experience the tournament. He would serve guard watch and begin to prove himself in prowess, skill, loyalty and that he now lived by the codes and oaths that his mentor knight had taught him.
Knighthood would be attained around age 21 depending upon the rate of his advancement and the deeds he attained for his name. Prior oaths sworn or fealties given he would ask release from before swearing himself anew or to a new new Liege Lord or Lady and if fate carried his path far, to the King or Queen.

Code of Chivalry
The Code of Chivalry consist of Virtues a Knight will live by all his life and ever strive to better himself in. Those Virtues for the Knights of Stormhaven are: Compassion, Honor, Honesty, Humility, Justice, Sacrifice, Spirituality, Valor and Patience.
Under this Code a Knight is charged with the following:
To be courageous, largesse, noble, loyal, courteous, prudent, charitable, generous, strong in prowess and to defend women, children and the weak, to use temperance with justice, to use wisdom, to always have hope and forever be a champion of right and the light.
The Knighting of a Stormguard
The Vigil
On the eve of the Knighting is the vigil. This is the candidates' time for reconciliation, speaking with the Chivalry, Peers and wise nobles present. And a time for introspection to consider the responsibilities and joys of accepting the accolade. A roundtable on Chivalry where those present may discourse on the meaning, exemplars, symbols, duties, and responsibilities of knighthood and peerage is held. This round table shall be moderated by the candidate's Knight mentor. Thereafter shall commence a time of prayer and contemplation, when ancient, wise, and grave gentles come singly and in pairs to instruct the candidate in the ways, honor and history of the orders of peerage and knighthood. The candidate shall fast on the vigil and contemplate the wrongs of his past. He should stay awake all night and and seek to hear words of right and things touching the deeds of chivalry. The candidate shall be clad in a tunic of white next to his skin, that he will hold himself clean, chaste and pure of heart and mind. The candidate shall be clad in a cloak of red, that he might understand that he will be required to spill his blood in order to defend the crown, his people and oaths. The candidate shall wear boots of black so that he will always have in mind that death walks with him from whence he has come, and wither he will go, Lest into pride he fall. And before he be a-dubbed an knight the candidate shall bathe in order that felony be washed away and be fulfilled with courtesy, honesty, and kindness.
The Blessings
"Blessing of the Sword"
Conducted by Father Cyrus the Holy
Grant, we beseech, and see fit to bless with the hand of your majesty this sword with which your servant desires to be girt, to the end that he may be a defender of widows, of orphans, and of all thy servants, against the cruelty of heathens, and that he may be the terror and dread of his enemies, ensuring for him the performance of equitable prosecution and just defense. Amen.
"Blessing of the Candidate"
Conducted by Father Cyrus the Holy
O eternal light, we seek to defend right and justice by use of the sword, and have willed to institute a Chivalric Order for the protection of the people: We ask granted to this your servant, who comes a new recruit to put his neck under the chivalric yoke, the power and valor to defend the faith and justice, increase him in faith, hope, charity, the fear as well as the love of light, humility, perseverance, obedience and good patience, and direct him lawfully in all things, so that he will never injure anyone unjustly with this or any other sword, and so that, just as he is raised from an inferior station to the new honor of knighthood, so, putting off the old man with his deeds, he will put on the new man, to avoid the society of the wicked, to pour out his charity upon his neighbor, to obey the articles of his oath lawfully in all things, and to fulfill his office justly at all times. Amen."
The Knighting Ceremony
The Knighting ceremony will be formal and held at the Citadel of Stormhaven. The ceremony is as follows:
HERALD:
"Welcome all who come to this most Honored event to witness the Knighting of a Stormguard. May you share in the honor and joy of this grand occasion for our Knight Candidate(s)."
Begging the Boon
(At the appropriate time in her majesties court)
HERALD: Her Majesty calls forth [Candidates' Knight Mentor].
[MENTOR] begs the boon in the manner that his spirit takes him. Her Majesty would by tradition have the herald call forth the order of Chivalry, and seek their advice on the matter. And if everyone is of like mind.
QUEEN LIPSTICK: "[Mentor], is the candidate free to take the oath and accept responsibilities of Knighthood?"
MENTOR: "No your Majesty, he is sworn in fealty to His [current noble Liege's house]." or "Yes your Majesty, he is free in fealty to take oath and accept Knighthood."
QUEEN LIPSTICK: "Herald, summon his grace and his household." or "Herald, summon [candidate's name]."
The Release from Fealty
[Current liege holding candidate's fealty] will bring the candidate into Their Majesties presence. (With whatever Tenons of Nobility as "color guard") and then release the candidate from his fealty to their household in a ceremony of their choosing. And then "present" him to Queen Lipstick.
The Peer Spokespeople
The candidate shall come forward and kneel before Queen Lipstick.
QUEEN LIPSTICK: Is there a member of the order who would speak for the candidate?
Peer #1 MENTOR: Speak to the candidates prowess and respect for the arts. The Mentor should step forward to the candidates side.
MENTOR: "I, Sir [mentors name] do. I present [candidates name] as a candidate for Knighthood and attest he is ready in body, mind and heart to bring honor to the Knights of Stormhaven. I also vouch for [candidate's name] having witnessed his prowess in the field to be equal that of a Knight's in both valor and wisdom and that he walks the path of the Code of Chivalry and Honor in all things."
QUEEN LIPSTICK: Is there a member of the order who would speak for the candidate?
PEER #2: Speak to the service, honor, and fidelity of the candidate. (or otherwise, as their heart and experience dictates)
(If the Queen wills she could wish that he describe the nature of the candidates Vigil quest and ask the 101 inspirations (and any others who will) stand to signify that they vow to continue guide the candidate; to inspire, teach, counsel and rebuke when necessary.)
QUEEN LIPSTICK:
Is there a royal peer who would speak for the candidate?
PEER #3: Speak to the service, honor, and fidelity of the candidate. (or otherwise, as their heart and experience dictates)
Charging the Candidate
QUEEN LIPSTICK: "You are here before us in a tunic of pure white symbolizing your purity of purpose.
You walk in boots of black to remind thee ever does death walk with thee."
"Right mindful of your prowess on the field, and responsive to the wishes of your peers, we are minded to make you knight. Know that to wear the belt and chain of a knight is to hold a sacred trust; that the obligations of knighthood will demand your efforts every moment of your life.
"A knight must respect all those who are weak or defenseless, whether because of age, infirmity, poverty, or vow, and be steadfast in defending them.
"A knight must love his Kingdom and his province, and fulfill most faithfully his feudal duties to his liege lord and his Queen.
"His word must be dependable beyond doubt or question.
"Be now charged with those obligations before all who witness:
Thou shalt live with Compassion and be generous of heart.
Thou shalt live in Honor and be all that is noble.
Thou shalt live under Humility and rise not above thyself.
Thou shalt live for Justice and defend the weak of the world.
Thou shalt live to Sacrifice and give all for what is good.
Thou shalt live by Valor and be courageous before thy foes."
"And, always and everywhere, he must be the champion of the right and the good.
"The Laws of the Order and the customs of the Kingdom require that a knight be prow, as you have demonstrated you are upon the field; that a knight be courteous, as you have shown yourself to be and as these noble gentleman (and ladies) attest; and that a knight be loyal to his Kingdom and the Order. Do you then desire to accept the burden of knighthood and swear fealty to the Crown?"
The Candidate will accept.
CANDIDATE: I do accept the burden and offer oath.
Swearing Fealty
QUEEN LIPSTICK: "Then swear fealty and pay homage to the Crown of the Kingdom of Stormhaven."
CANDIDATE: "I here swear fealty and do homage to the Crown of the Kingdom of Stormhaven;
to ever be a good knight and true,
reverent and generous,
obedient to my liege,
foremost in battle,
courteous at all times,
I am sworn to valor,
my heart knows only virtue,
my blade defends the helpless,
my might upholds the weak,
my word speaks only truth,
my wrath undoes the wicked,
my soul bleeds for justice,
and Champion am I of all that is right.
Thus swear I, [knights’ name]."
QUEEN LIPSTICK: "This to We hear and shall never forget nor fail to reward that which is given fealty with love service with honor and oath breaking with vengeance."
Bestowing the Tokens of Knighthood
The Candidate will now receive tokens of his knighthood. A sword, belt, cloak & ring.
The Sword
QUEEN LIPSTICK: "Is there a sword which you will offer in service to your crown?"
CANDIDATE: "Yes my liege there is, in the safe keeping of your servant [Peer #1]."
[PEER #1] will girt the candidate with his sword whilst speaking to the symbolism of the knights sword: "One edge to cuts to the truth one edge to administer their majesties justice and a scabbard to counsel mercy." (More And, or less as his Grace's spirit moves him.)
The Belt
QUEEN LIPSTICK: "Is there a belt?"
CANDIDATE: "Yes my liege there is, in the safe keeping of your servant [Peer #2]."
[PEER #2] will attire the candidate with his belt whilst speaking to the symbolism of the belt: "The knights' white belt symbolizes purity, and chastity that a knight must reign in his body steadfastly, avoiding the scandals of the body: gluttony, sloth, and lechery. Purity of purpose and a new beginning or rebirth to begin again the steps on the Path Chivalry." (More And, or less as Her Majesty wills.)
The Sash
QUEEN LIPSTICK: "Is there a sash?"
CANDIDATE: "Yes my liege there is, in the safe keeping of your servant [Peer #3]."
[PEER #3] will attire the candidate with his sash whilst speaking to the symbolism of the belt: "The knights' crimson sash symbolizes the blood a knight will shed in defense of the crown, the society and all that is just and right."
The Cloak
QUEEN LIPSTICK: "Is there a Coat of Arms?"
CANDIDATE: "Yes my liege there is, in the safe keeping of your servant [Peer #3]."
[PEER #3] will place the cloak upon the candidate whilst speaking to the symbolism of the cloak: "Shame fastness or Fear of shame. These arms ensure that all might know this knight from afar, and judge him fair or foul, to ensure obedience to the order of knighthood. It symbolizes the hardships and travail that a knight will suffer foremost in battle and always placing his body between his Kingdom and her foes just as the surcoat receives any blows, rain, or insult before the armor and body of the knight."
The Ring
QUEEN LIPSTICK: "The candidate has been invested with the trappings of the office to knighthood." "The Knights of Stormhaven all bear a ring of gold. It is the symbol of their order and all the ideals of Knighthood. It is a ring which binds him in his oath of fealty. I ask, has this candidate earned the right to bear the ring and be accepted into the order?"
PRINCE TALON: (As he steps before the candidate) "Yes my lady. I Prince Talon accept thee [Candidate's Name] into the Order of the Knights of Stormhaven and bestow upon thee the ring of Knighthood. "A ring of pure gold, pure as the fealty which binds the Knight & his sovereigns to one another. A ring of heavy gold upon your finger to remind you of the heavy responsibility you bear. A ring of strong gold that encircles the finger to signify obedience to the order & oaths. A Gold ring to be your badge of our order. Pray let your behavior & deeds charge our symbol with reverence, honor & respect as were the symbols of our forbearers when the first ring was bestowed upon the first StormKnight by the Avatar himself.”
The Adoubment
QUEEN LIPSTICK (using Ice or FireStorm):
"In remembrance of oaths given and received." (Strikes the right shoulder)
"In remembrance of your lineage and obligations." (Strikes the left shoulder)
"Be thou a good knight." (Strikes the head)
"Rise, Sir [KNIGHTS NAME]."
The Colée or Buffet
QUEEN LIPSTICK: "Know, now that you are made a knight, that you must succor the defenseless, seek justice for those of every station, and maintain the honor of Knighthood. Let this blow remind you that Knighthood shall bring you pain as well as honor." (Her Majesty delivers the buffet to the candidate's chest.) (Queen Lipstick, Prince Talon and the new Knight exchange bows before the Knight turns to face those present.)
QUEEN LIPSTICK: "Hail Sir [KNIGHTS' NAME]! HHH!
ALL PRESENT: "Hail Sir [KNIGHTS' NAME]. HHH!"

[I wish to thank Sir Urien ap Taliesin for his aid and permission with this page. Our old code oath you may recognize from "Dragonheart". In all my research it was my favorite, though to give it a bit of uniqueness for the Stormguards I added one line of my own originality, "my soul bleeds for justice." Please feel free to use what you wish from this page though you may wish to use your own original line in the oath in place of ours to give your order of knights the uniqueness they deserve.]
Derived from the draft of the Knighting Ceremony of Urien ap Taliesin.
This ceremony began at its base from the knighting ceremony of my patron and one time Prince Dafydd ap Gwalchmai. Which in turn was "a combination of the ceremony used for Talbot's (MacTagart) knighting and aspects fo the Middle Kingdom ceremony." Which in turn is based on "traditions established in the 13th century poem L'Ordene de Chevalerie, William Durands Ponitifical (c. 1295), the knighting of Henry IV's 1399 coronation, and the early fifteenth century book Tirant lo Blanc". Thus are customs created. I have also drawn heavily on "The Book of the order of chyvalry or knighthode" translated from Ramon Lull's french into Old English by William Caxton in 1484. (And presented to me as a translation task by my first knight and wise tutor Sir Andrew Greencloak.) I have also "borrowed" from the Knighting ceremonies and traditions of the Kingdoms for Calontir and the West (both of which it has been my extreme good fortune to experience.) I pray that my concoction presents some semblance of unity and pleases my masters and teachers. I further pray that all of those mentioned and "called" to speak and act in this vision understand that this is merely a starting point. It must conform to the whim and wishes of Their Majesties who would be my new masters, and my knight Conn my current master, and all of those who will speak and act before God in this solemn ceremony. I will not put words in your mouth. I beg thee speak and act the truth as you know it, and if you are guided by my understanding of the trueth I am glad. If you will share and teach your truth I am gladder still.
