This play is based on a war that happened in the community many years ago. Done in the Kabuki style. All actors wear masks. Analeiza carries a fan.
Act I Scene I
In the throne room of the Regency. There is a throne in the centre of the room with purple plants around it.
Narrator: I am Cyrus, your narrator and guide through this troublesome time. You will see me hover in the background and speak at times, but do not fear the others can not hear me. Perhaps they are too involved in their troubles to pay heed to a soldier from Stormhaven. The events of this play take place a week into the Stonegate war and the court of the Regent Dayel Stormcrow restlessly awaits word of the battle’s outcome. looks behind him I must cut this narration short Analeiza comes this way with her friend.
Enter Analeiza with Kronos, Cyrus the Narrator stands off to the side
Kronos: Still no word from our Regent.
Analeiza: Fear not Kronos, the Regent set out with the largest army anyone has ever mustered. The Trinsic and Yew town councils, Hedges Run, The Britanian Guard, Stormhaven, the Order of the Silver Serpent and the allies. One hundred men in all.
Kronos: Yes, yes I know, the hundred men army. But it has been a week and still no word. Surely they would have defeated Moonglow by now.
Analeiza: We have paced the halls for many hours, come dearest friend, lets sit down, rest in your friend’s throne.
Kronos sits in the throne and sighs heavily. A moment of silence until Talon enters.
Talon: Dearest heavens! Your best friend is dead!
Analeiza flutters her fan and faints to the ground
Kronos: How?! This can not be!
Talon: Why are you on his throne unless you have heard news that Dayel is dead. Are you the new Regent of this land now?
Kronos gets off the throne and shakes Analeiza as he talks to Talon
Kronos: Do not leap to conclusions Talon, being brash will not help you when you become the king of Stormhaven some day.
Analeiza awakens
Analeiza: Ohh gods! He is dead *cries*
Kronos: Talon made a mistake, Dayel is not dead. Come dear and lets rest where we will not be mistaken as usurpers.
Analeiza and Kronos leave
Act I Scene II
Cyrus and Talon Skyfire are alone in the throne room.
Talon: Those two are quite sensitive. Do you think they are lovers? Narrator: They have a lot to lose my lord. GreyPawn’s army has been undefeated until this point. That is why Dayel has asked all the lightbringers to send troops for the assault on Stonegate.
Talon: I gave Sharic command of our soldiers for this battle. Poor beggar, but seriously Cyrus. Do you think those two are heading to the same bed chamber? Narrator: I am a holy man my lord. I best not speculate on the nightly acts of knights.
Talon: Then what of war? Tell me who you think has won this Stonegate battle.
Narrator: All common sense has it that Dayel’s army would win and I truly hope that is to be the case but I have doubts and often awaken to the same dream in which Dayel returns...
