|
"I felt the first chill of winter today."
"What is your point?"
"My point is that the season is turning. It is MY time to lead. You have grown soft. You embarrass us, with your foolishness and jokes. We have waited long enough. Our army is strong, yet it languishes here, when it should be put to use."
"We HAD to wait. The children were still too young. They required training. A move too soon would have been folly. You know that. Your over-eagerness will cost us. You did not pay attention to Galnor's lesson..."
"So what do we wait for now, then? the children are old enough, and since when has revenge ever waited on the young? Look at you, being kind to gypsies you know ought to be murdered. Taking in lycan hunters. Pathetic. The curse has softened you. Made you as stupid as the lightbringers. No, you have had control for far too long. It is my time, now. You will be silent unless further council is required."
In the city below the townsfolk turned their heads in the direction of the Sepulcher, from which a loud scream issued forth. |
