LaBelle crossed the embellished floor covering towards
the desk of the Innkeeper. The peasant she had become
familiar with in the last week was ever present. The young
female huddled with a handsome stripling the lady assumed
was her beau. Words were exchanged, the lady became
privy to them, "…yes, and he said he was not going to be
Regent anymore." The stripling, seeming oblivious to her
discourse, continued his attempt at groping her blouse.
She striked out at his hand playfully and continued to
speak without regard, "…so we will have no Regent until
they hold elections, or appointment." She allowed his
hand to trace her breast. "What do you think about
that? I mean, he just decides to quit out of nothing.
Not after any major accomplishment or failure, just
quit out of the grey?" She asserted toward her beau.
The stripling responded by squeezing her and jerking
her toward himself, " Why, do you wish to lay with the
Regent and fear your absence of opportunity now?"
He chided, as he brought her closer and bussed her.
"Besides," he interluded, "he said he would remain Regent
until one was placed." She smirked, "So you do listen
at times?" The peasant female urged his bussing and
their words soon fell short.
LaBelle continued towards the Innkeeper to pay her
weekly due. The news was unsettling. The Innkeeper
nodded deeply after receiving her gold, turned and went
back to studying his documents.
LaBelle moved out onto the stoop with intention to head
into the bustling city front. As she arrived to the tumult
of city merchantry near the mint; she heard shouts from
the crier, " Hail all! The Regent has resigned! The
Government will be accepting nominations!" This news
confirmed what she thought may be only a rumor
back at the Inn. The paladin woman failed to elate
at the confirmation of this news. Rather, she hung
her head low and proceeded into the mint to
tend her affairs.
As the moon waned the paladin woman implored herself
into her sleeping place. She thought to take the pen up
upon her Regent, and moved to the writing desk of the
small chamber. Into the night her thoughts jounced,
her hand still, she eventually made her way back into
the warmth of her bed coverings and fell to the
dormancy that beckoned her. The letter she would
begin on the marrow with a restful mind… |
